The star of the Netflix documentary "Tiger King" Joe Exotic sued the United States Justice Department Wednesday because they rejected his request for a presidential pardon.According to court documents obtained by CBS11 and Courthouse News, lawyers for Exotic, whose real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage, argued that the rejection isn't valid because Acting Pardon Attorney Rosalind Sargent-Burns didn't give his official request to President Donald Trump himself.According to the six-page complaint filed in federal court in Fort Worth, Exotic's legal team named Sargent-Burns because she allegedly never gave President Trump a formal recommendation, which according to the lawsuit, she's required to do.Currently, Maldonado-Passage is serving a 22-year prison sentence in Fort Worth after he was found guilty in April 2019 for animal cruelty and trying to hire someone to murder Carole Baskin, who's a big-cat rights activist.The complaint also names Donald Trump Jr. as a supporter, CBS11 reported. 1006

The Trump campaign has officially requested a recount in two Wisconsin counties, just one day after all 72 counties had reported they finished their canvassing.President Donald Trump and his campaign had a deadline of 5 p.m. Wednesday to demand a recount in the state.The Wisconsin Election Commission (WEC) said the request could be delivered to the commission in person or filed electronically, as long as it was received by 5 p.m.On Wednesday, the Trump campaign ordered a recount in both Milwaukee and Dane Counties — two of the most populous and Democratic-leaning counties in the state.The WEC added that the campaign wired million Tuesday evening.The fees for a recount vary based on where the president would like a recount. The whole state is much more expensive than a county by county recount.The news of the recount comes after The Associated Press projected Joe Biden as the winner in Wisconsin. The wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of Rebecca Zahau focused Thursday on the thoroughness of the investigation, with the lead Sheriff's detective on the case taking the stand. Zahau's death was ruled a suicide by four different investigative agencies but the Zahau family believes Rebecca was murdered by her boyfriend's brother, Adam Shacknai. The questioning by David Elsberg, attorney for Adam Shacknai, was aimed at showing investigators left no stone unturned. Elsberg's initial focus was on dispelling the scream that a neighbor reported may have come from the Coronado mansion around the time of Rebecca's death.  As Adam Shacknai's attorney pointed at areas of an overhead projection screen of the Coronado mansion, Detective Tsuida said the reported scream actually came from an area northwest of the property, toward the beach, and not from the balcony area where Rebecca Zahau was found dead. The attorney also showed a series of photos of footprints on the balcony, including bare prints that would support Rebecca standing on the balcony and near the balcony's edge. The questioning by Elsberg went on to the collection of potential DNA evidence and the intricate detail work involved.  Detective Tsuida testified that none of Adam Shacknai's DNA was found on the rope or knife, or several other items that might suggest he had anything to do with her death. 1480
