Special counsel Robert Mueller's office is considering bringing more criminal charges against Paul Manafort, after it accused the former Trump campaign chairman of violating his plea deal to cooperate with prosecutors.The announcement came at a half-hour court hearing Friday morning, where Manafort's team learned that his sentencing for conspiracy and witness tampering will happen on March 5, 2019.The hearing came just days after special counsel prosecutors said they believe Manafort lied during his interviews with investigators following his guilty plea in September. The special counsel's office may have to turn over evidence backing up its claim in the coming weeks.Such a move could give Manafort's legal team, and in theory, President Donald Trump's lawyers if they are still in touch, a new window into some of the information Mueller has collected during the investigation.Manafort pleaded guilty earlier this year to two charges of conspiracy and witness tampering, while publicly admitting he committed several other financial and lobbying crimes. He separately was found guilty by a jury in Virginia of eight financial fraud charges related to his Ukrainian lobbying proceeds.Lead prosecutor Andrew Weissmann said the Justice Department is evaluating whether Manafort could still be held liable for crimes he's admitted to but is not currently charged with in federal court."I don't know at this time. We will have to evaluate whether it will be fruitful to take action" on those crimes, Weissmann said.Manafort is currently in jail in Alexandria, Virginia. He did not attend the hearing Friday; two defense attorneys were there on his behalf.Since his initial indictment last October, Manafort has been a thorn for prosecutors and, at times, for the judge.While he still claimed his innocence in the case, prosecutors indicted him for attempting to contact potential witnesses to shape their stories. He then went to trial in Virginia federal court, holding off prosecutors from making a deal. After he lost his case at trial, Manafort changed his plea and agreed to cooperate with investigators. But that cooperation now appears to be tainted with the lying accusation -- another unusual turn of events.Manafort says he believes he was truthful with investigators."We have ... had lengthy conversations with the defense to discuss the facts," related to Manafort's alleged lies during his cooperation, Weissmann said. "They're aware the gravemen of what the concerns are."Both legal teams will hash that out in court soon, with filings beginning to come in next week about the facts of how Manafort's cooperation fell apart.Despite the dispute over whether Manafort breached his plea deal, the two parties struck a cordial tone in the courtroom.When things wrapped up, lawyers from both sides wished each other "happy holidays," sometimes shouting across the room, as people started filing out of the chilly courtroom. 2950

SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A driver was arrested Monday morning after hitting several parked vehicles and shearing a fire hydrant in Spring Valley, sending water towards nearby homes and a church.According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 5:15 a.m. in the 9100 block of Akard Street.CHP officials said the man struck at least two parked vehicles, hit a fire hydrant and then lost control, causing his truck to flip over.The driver crawled out of his truck and tried to run away, but officers captured him a few blocks away.When the truck slammed into the fire hydrant, it caused a geyser that reached up to 40 feet in the air and flooded nearby homes and the Grace Covenant Church.Most of the water damage affected the WOW Christian Preschool at the church. School director Sally Gutierrez said both of the classrooms sustained heavy water damage, as well as the playground areas."The floor, the carpets, it all got pretty wet," said Gutierrez. "There's even water dripping down the walls from upstairs."Water crews were able to shut off the geyser after about 20 minutes.The preschool reopened in May after closing during the coronavirus pandemic. Only 10 students were enrolled, but they had planned to expand to 30 students in the fall to start the new school year."We don't really know how long we'll be closed now," said Gutierrez. "Everything's on hold. The car that crashed, it affected to many of the neighbors, but it affected us as well, and all of our families."The driver, who was placed under arrest, was taken to the hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries. SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) -- Solana Beach’s alternative to San Diego Gas and Electric appears to be in store for financial headwinds. A new city report says that the Solana Energy Alliance could run at a deficit for the next two years, which look to be more challenging than originally forecast. The city launched the alliance in June to help the city reach its goal of 100 percent renewable energy by 2035 and provide competition to SDG&E. Currently, more than 90 percent of Solana Beach energy and businesses buy their electricity from the alliance. It saves them about 2 percent from SDG&E. “They’re definitely stepping into deep water to try to do this themselves,” said Solana Beach resident Ed Radcliffe. “I hope they do it right.”Solana Beach City Councilman Peter Zahn said overall the energy program is healthy. It has high enrollment and is paying off expenses from the launch. He said it had higher revenues than expected while also having higher expenses than expected. Zahn said the report examined the alliance’s first three months, so it’s still early. He added a big hit came from a recent Public Utilities Commission decision to hike the exit fees residents pay SDG&E to buy it elsewhere. The Solana Beach city report says the fees could rise by as much as 50 percent. “While we are not happy with some of the factors that have influenced this - like the exit fee - we are really optimistic about going out into the future,” Zahn said.The report said higher energy prices and lower SDG&E electricity generation rates are also impacting revenue.In October, the city of San Diego announced plans to create its own alternative to SDG&E, called a Community Choice Aggregator. A spokesman for Mayor Kevin Faulconer says comparing Solana Beach’s organization to what is in store in San Diego is apples to oranges. SOLON, Ohio — An Ohio police department is warning of a Netflix email phishing scam that is asking people to update their payment details after one of their officers, who doesn't even have a Netflix account, received the email.The city of Solon, Ohio Police Department put out the warning, saying criminals want you to click the links so that you voluntarily give out your personal information. The links also could install malware on your computer.In a photo, the very real-looking email it asks users to update their payment details, saying the account is on hold."Hi Dear, We're having some trouble with your current billing information. We'll try again, but in the meantime you may want to update your payment details," the email reads, with a link to update the account.Netflix said if you believe you have received a fraudulent email appearing to be from the company, never enter your details, never click on any links and do not reply to it. Men named Richard represented the biggest advantage in the top 10 lists for President Donald Trump, as they supported the President 64% to 36%.Interestingly, men named "Donald" were much more likely to support Trump by a wide margin — 68% to 19% — while men named "Joseph" were evenly split between the candidates at 45%.The names also seem to represent the candidates splits among genders — on Sunday, Don Levy, the Director of the Siena College Research Institute, said that Trump leads by eight points among men, while Biden leads by 18 points among women."Karen" is the nickname most often given to white women — particularly those who are the subject of viral videos — who respond to issues of race in problematic ways.Though the "Karen" meme has murky origins, the term exploded into the mainstream lexicon in 2020 after several videos featuring white women confronting people of color went viral.
