SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The government is warning consumers not to get duped by fraudulent coronavirus test kits.As COVID-19 fears spread, the U.S. FDA is warning Americans about fake "diagnostic, prevention and treatment claims" the agency is beginning to see appear in the market.Currently, there is no approved home testing kit for coronavirus available for consumers, according to the FDA.RELATED:Q and A: Food safety and the coronavirus diseaseEight arrested, accused of price-gouging during COVID-19 emergencyCOVID-19 patient in Kentucky went through week-long struggle to be tested"The FDA has not authorized any test that is available to purchase for testing yourself at home for COVID-19. The FDA sees the public health value in expanding the availability of COVID-19 testing through safe and accurate tests that may include home collection, and we are actively working with test developers in this space," the agency said in a release. The problem with the fake kits, other than being fraudulent, is they could delay consumers from seeking medical care. Anyone who believes they have symptoms resembling the novel coronavirus (which are fever, coughing, and shortness of breath) is asked to contact their medical provider, who will help determine if they need to be tested."We have already identified and issued warning letters to companies found selling and promoting fraudulent items, and we expect additional such actions will be forthcoming," the FDA said.Anyone who believes they have found a vendor selling fake testing kits can report them to the FDA. 1570

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Surveillance video shows a couple at a Kearny Mesa home, targeting an American flag.John Dodds bought his flag two years ago and displayed it with a light outside his home on Atlas Street."My father was a Navy veteran, my brother was very patriotic and instilled it within me," Dodds said. "I want everyone to know how much I appreciate this country and what the veterans of this country do for us."A flag typically flies in front of Dodd's home 365 days a year. On Thursday morning, Dodds walked outside and saw the empty flag holder, before reviewing his surveillance video.Around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night, two people with backpacks - bandanas on their faces -  walked by. One of them walked up to his porch and yanked out the flag before she took off. Dodds posted the video on the Nextdoor app in hopes of tracking down those thieves - and his flag.        "Maybe it was a big joke to them, but I don't think they know how seriously most of us take the flag of the United States of America," he said. Dodds plans on getting another flag but is still holding out hope for it to be returned. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The City of San Diego released Friday body-worn camera video and hundreds of pages of documents related to a 2018 officer-involved shooting. Raul Rivera was shot and killed by police on Hollister Street and Tocayo Avenue in May 2018 after police say he came at them with a knife. The new documents show police collected 28 9mm cartridge casings, nine bean bag cartridge casings, and four Taser cartridges from the scene. At one point, the video shows police tasing Rivera. He appears to rip off the barbs and continued to struggle. After several minutes, the violent scene comes to an end when police shoot and kill Rivera. They say he charged them with a knife. The San Diego County District Attorney's office did not bring charges against any of the three officers who fired. The report noted, "law enforcement officers were confronted by an agitated subject who was armed with a knife and was under the influence of narcotics. Mr. Rivera urged officers to shoot him as he advanced toward them."  At the time of the shooting, family members told 10News Rivera was in a bad mental state and wished the police had helped him, not hurt him. On Friday Rivera's sister told Team 10 investigator Adam Racusin she was too shaken to talk about the loss of her brother. She would only say that she loves him and is disappointed in the way police have handled things to this point.  1495

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The City of San Diego said Friday Lime Bike, Bird, Skip Scooters and Lyft had violated its terms of operation in regards to geofencing and other scooter operating restrictions. Geofencing forces riders to slow down to 8 miles per hour in busy areas “like Balboa Park and our boardwalks,” San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer wrote on Twitter. Bird had violations in nine different San Diego locations on July 13 and 14. Lyft and Lime Bike had violations in seven areas during that time, city officials said. The mayor proposed last fall to require geofencing at nine locations:Boardwalks in Mission Beach, Pacific Beach and La Jolla beach areasDowntown EmbarcaderoPromenade behind the San Diego Convention CenterMartin Luther King Jr. Promenade DowntownBalboa ParkNTC ParkMission Bay Park“SD’s new scooter regulations are in place and we’re serious when it comes to enforcing rules that keep operators honest and users safe,” Faulconer posted. “We’re holding scooter companies accountable and bad actors will no longer be allowed to do business in San Diego.” RELATED: Amid safety concerns, San Diego mayor wants geofencing to slow down dockless scootersThe companies were ordered to comply with geofencing rules by July 29 or cease operations in San Diego. 1279
