On the third day of the second test excavations, archaeologists said they identified a mass grave with outlines of at least ten coffins during the graves investigation.During a press conference on Wednesday, researchers said they do not feel they are at the stage of needing to expose those remains, as they do not want to do any harm.Researchers encountered the first set of human remains on day two of the second test excavation in the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Graves Investigation.PHOTO GALLERY: Researchers work on second test excavation to recover possible mass graves from 1921 Tulsa Race MassacreArchaeologists said, during a press conference on Oct. 20, they do not know if the remains are from 1921 at this time. They said they are hopeful to find additional remains. Researchers added that this big discovery gives them a better understanding of where to find more remains.Mayor G.T. Bynum said he is grateful for the experts who located the remains. I am very grateful to have the foremost experts in the country working to locate the remains of victims from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. Today, our research team found an unmarked grave in an area previously identified through geophysical survey work. The next step will be to identify if the remains are associated with the Tulsa Race Massacre. This will be done through forensic analysis of the remains, and by comparing them with funeral home and death certificate records. We will continue to take this investigation one step at a time, wherever it may lead. Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum Researchers said they found the remains three feet below the surface on the west side of Oaklawn Cemetery. The discovery includes a wood coffin held together with metal nails, a temporary marker used to identify where a gravestone is usually placed and human remains of one person.State Archaeologist Kary Stackelbeck said signs of trauma will help experts determine if these remains were from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.Researchers said the investigation is expected to last one week, but could extend into a second week, depending on the findings.READ MORE: Second test excavation in 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Graves Investigation to begin Oct. 19The archaeologists are focusing on two areas in Oaklawn Cemetery this time around. The first site is adjacent to two 1921 Race Massacre headstones in the historical African American section of Potters field; the second is a new dig site located on the Southwest section of the cemetery. In 2018, Mayor Bynum announced the City of Tulsa would re-examine potential graves from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. That investigation began in 2020 with crews conducting their search along the western edge of the cemetery. Archaeologists conducted extensive test excavations and concluded with no evidence of human remains. However, the search could continue beyond Oaklawn Cemetery. Researchers said several areas are still candidates for possible mass grave sites related to the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. The Canes, near Newblock Park, and Rolling Oaks Memorial Gardens could be next on the list of possible excavation sites.WATCH Oct. 20 press conference below: For more information on the test excavations from the City of Tulsa, click here. You can also follow the City of Tulsa's 1921 Graves Facebook page for photos and continued updates, click here. This story originally reported by Tatianna Taylor on KJRH.com. 3460

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau revealed on a Winnipeg radio station that the Canada-U.S. border would remain closed to non-essential travel until the United States lowers its COVID-19 infections. In September, it was announced that the border would reopen on Oct. 21. However, the steady increase of positive COVID-19 cases – which has reached 7.9 million, according to data from John's Hopkins – has extended the reopening date. There are now over 200,000 deaths due to the virus, the CDC reports. “We have committed to keeping Canadians safe and we keep extending the border closures because the States is not in a place where we would feel comfortable reopening those borders,” Trudeau told the radio station, as reported in Bloomberg. “We will continue to make sure that Canadian safety is top of mind when we move forward. We see the cases in the United States and elsewhere around the world, and we need to continue to keep these border controls in place,” he added.Travel restrictions do not apply to air, freight rail, or sea travel between both countries. Commercial crossings for trade and commerce will continue as usual.Family members of Canadian citizens or permanent residents can cross the border into Canada but must stay in the country for at least 15 days.Additional Coronavirus information and resources:Click here for a page with resources including a COVID-19 overview from the CDC, details on cases in Michigan, a timeline of Governor Gretchen Whitmer's orders since the outbreak, coronavirus' impact on Southeast Michigan, and links to more information from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, the CDC and the WHO.View a global coronavirus tracker with data from Johns Hopkins University. This article was written by WXYZ. 1791

The Trump campaign tells 13 Action News that President Donald Trump will travel to Nevada on the dates planned, and that additional details will be announced soon, after reports that his rallies this weekend were canceled.Mr. Trump was initially scheduled to visit Reno on Saturday to host a "Great American Comeback Event" and then visit Las Vegas for a second rally in the state the next day. It is not clear if Trump is traveling for the rallies or for new events. 13 Action News has reached out for clarification. The campaign is also accusing Democrats of trying to prevent Trump from speaking to voters but did not offer an example or explanation. Read the full statement from Tim Murtaugh, the Trump 2020 communications director, below: Democrats are trying to keep President Trump from speaking to voters because they know the enthusiasm behind his re-election campaign cannot be matched by Joe Biden – a historically weak candidate controlled by the radical left who could hold a campaign event in a broom closet. The President’s uplifting message of American greatness resonates with people, while everyone knows that Biden is a tool of the radical left who would raise taxes and tank the incredible comeback that is already underway. President Trump will be traveling to Nevada on the dates planned. Additional details will be announced soon. Gov. Steve Sisolak, a Democrat, responded to reports of the canceled rallies on Twitter this morning, saying his office has not spoken to the Trump campaign about the rallies.Read the governor's Tweets below: The Governor’s Office had no involvement or communication with the event organizers or potential hosts regarding the proposed campaign events advertised by the Trump campaign.Current statewide emergency directives include mandatory face coverings, limitations on public and private gatherings to no more than 50 people, and other measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.The Nevada-specific White House recommendations have consistently included recommendations to limit the size of gatherings for weeks now. McCarran Airport, one of the airports the campaign announced would host a rally, tells ABC News it has not been contacted by the Trump campaign about the event, even though the event had been announced days ago.Up north, The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority said in a statement that a campaign rally with a 5,000-person gathering would be in violation of their lease agreements due to Gov. Sisolak’s directive of no gatherings in excess of 50 people and that the event goes against Washoe County’s recommendation to limit the number to 25 or less.Daren Griffin, president/CEO of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, said in the statement: “We would hold our tenants to the same standard whether it was a Democratic or Republican rally or any other type of gathering. We are complying with the Governor’s directive and Washoe County’s recommendation during a pandemic.”Griffin continued and said, "After reviewing the lease, the airport’s attorney found the rally would be in violation of Directive 021 from the Nevada Governor. “This has nothing to do with politics. The letter we sent is about directives and safety and not political campaigns.” ADDITIONAL RESPONSESThis morning, former state AG Adam Laxalt, a Republican, said on Twitter that the reported cancellations were "Outrageous!"He called them "partisan political retribution" and "unprecedented," though he did not offer any supporting evidence for those claims. Read his tweet below: Outrageous! @realDonaldTrump rally venues in NV canceled. Welcome to Sisolak’s Nevada – home of partisan political retribution. This is unprecedented – to cancel an incumbent President’s campaign stop inside 60 days of a major contested election in a swing state. This isn’t over! Similarly, the Nevada Democrats issued a statement responding to reports of the cancellations: The fact that Donald Trump was even considering holding these unsafe events in the midst of a global pandemic is just the latest example of his poor judgment and complete disregard for Nevadans’ public health and safety. The state is currently reeling from a pandemic exacerbated by Trump's disastrous coronavirus response. Limitations on in-person gatherings in Nevada were established to fill the void in leadership created by Trump. Thanks to emergency directives implemented by state leadership, great progress has been made in controlling deadly outbreaks. Trump is only the victim of his own incompetence. CVS Health is encouraging employers to cover Sleepio as an employee benefit. This app is supposed to help people with insomnia. Through a six-week program, it’s supposed to help people fall asleep faster and stay asleep by using cognitive behavioral therapy. It's encouraged by doctors because it tackles sleeping habits by changing people's negative thinking patterns. But do sleep apps really work? One expert at the University of Colorado says they do help provide certain information that your doctor may not have, like how long you're sleeping every night. But there are other things sleep apps can't do. “Where they fall short is when they're sort of estimating your sleep stages,” says Christopher Depner, a sleep expert at the University of Colorado. “That's gonna be your light sleep, your REM sleep and your deep sleep. In some people they're accurate, in other people they're less than 50% accurate. So, for right now, we really can't use them medically to assess sleep staging.” If an app alerts you that you're getting less than seven hours of sleep, talk to your doctor. These sleep apps are not actual medical diagnostic devices because they're not approved by the FDA. That's not to say they won't ever be approved, but right now, app makers are having a hard time getting the green light. The same applies to any other app that intends to treat other conditions. 1391
