SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A local organization is raising money for a good Samaritan that died in February in Pine Valley. Sunday, the It's All About the Kids Foundation hosted the "Be Like Bob" art show to raise money for a scholarship in Bob Bruno's honor. Bruno died in February when he stopped to help a driver on the I-8 in Pine Valley. While helping, there was another accident and to avoid being hit, Bruno jumped over the side of the guardrail, falling into the canyon below. "I think he would be really honored to know that we were memorializing him this way," said Gwendolyn Sneed, Bruno's long-time partner. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego boxer who missed out on the 2016 Olympic games has her eyes set on 2020.Danyelle Wolf missed out on the 2016 Olympic games because her weight class wasn't included. The omission forced her to seek out a new challenge: MMA.For the next three years, Wolf trained for her MMA debut. That day would never come either."I dislocated my shoulder, so I totally dislocated my arm, tore my labrum," Wolf said. The International Olympic Committee voted to add Wolf's weight class to the 2020 games as she rehabed her shoulder injury.So just like that, it was back to the training room, but in this case time was a factor."Thank goodness, because it I would've fought professionally in MMA I would not have been able to try out for the Olympic games," Wolf said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Rancho Penasquitos man says on Sunday morning he walked outside to discover someone had broken into most of the mailboxes on his street. He added that even mailboxes that had locks had been pried open and left empty.“I woke up this morning to pick up my newspaper and I noticed every mailbox up and down the street and adjacent streets I could see had been opened and all the mail had been removed,” he said. The neighbor asked ABC 10News not to be identified.He said he’s lived in the area for about 10 years and it’s generally quiet. They had one incident a few years ago where mail was stolen around tax return season. He’s concerned about this theft because of the looming November election.“I kinda felt it might’ve had something to do with stealing the ballots,” he said.He said both he and his next door neighbor had received their ballots in the days immediately before the theft. Other neighbors in the area also said they already got their ballots in the mail, but the incident is a reminder to be extra cautious with important voting documents moving through the postal system.“Personally, I’ve never been a victim of crime here, or do I know anybody that’s been a victim of crime here, so it’s something that’s concerning,” he said.The neighbor added that he did email the registrar’s office to let them know of the possibility of stolen ballots in his neighborhood. 1407

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A recent SurveyUSA/10News poll shows 53% of San Diegans are worried about the cost of food, and that gets especially troublesome in the summer, when kids are out of school. Many families lose much needed support from free or reduced price meals at school. But a program through Feeding San Diego is working to make sure every kid has the "Fuel for Summer" they need."It's both heartwarming and heartbreaking," says Feeding San Diego CEO Vince Hall. "That summer meal we're able to provide is probably the first meal that they've had of the day."1 in 6 children in San Diego faces hunger and food insecurity. The Fuel for Summer program provides meals that follow all federal nutritional guidelines. They include a protein, side, vegetable, fruit and healthy drink. Often, Hall says, they're introducing kids to foods they don't get on a regular basis."I went to one of the meals last summer," says Hall with a smile. "There were kids who'd never had a tamale, and had to be instructed on how to eat a tamale, and then they thought they were absolutely delicious."The Fuel for Summer program has 16 sites, some feed as many as 200 kids every day. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Normal Heights dog owner is warning about a hidden danger at dog parks.Bosco, a 2-year-old bullypit, loves his treats and just about anything else his mouth can reach."He's a vacuum. He's eaten some weird stuff," said Mark Groveman.On Friday morning, the list of stuff got longer sometime during a 40-minute period. During that time, Groveman walked Bosco to the off-leash area at Ward Canyon Park and let him play. Eventually they walked home. Groveman put him in the house, left for work and returned home five hours later."He was laying on the bed, scared and shivering. He had wet the bed a couple times. He was arching his back in a weird way, swaying side to side. I thought he was having a stroke," said Groveman.Groveman decided to rush Bosco to the emergency vet."In the car, he was bobbing his head forward. He kept nodding off. Honestly I thought he was going to die. A lot of panic and some praying as well," said Groveman. At the vet, Bosco got a quick diagnosis."They said they are seeing it every day," said Groveman. Bosco likely ingested marijuana, which tests later confirmed. Experts say in some cases, eating marijuana for dogs can lead to seizures and in rare cases, death. Edibles and tinctures - with higher THC concentrations - are most concerning. According to the ASPCA, since the legalization of marijuana in California, dog toxicity cases have jumped 130%.In the case of Bosco, a slow heartbeat was initially a concern, but he was fortunately was back to his normal self 24 hours later."He has to run around and play, but I'm going to be a bit more aware," said Groveman. 1629
