Many of the students accepted as athletes never even played that sport, according to charging documents.“I know that there’s probably frustration out there amongst families that individuals with wealth could get away with this,” Niles says.The alleged orchestrater of the scheme, William Rick Singer, pleaded guilty Tuesday to four charges. 2309

DAVIS COUNTY, Utah -- The Utah Department of Health on Sunday confirmed the first death as a result of coronavirus in the state.The patient was identified only as a male over the age of 60 from Davis County who was being treated at Lakeview Hospital. He had underlying medical conditions and was hospitalized two days prior to his death, health officials said.“Even though we knew some Utah residents would lose their lives to this illness it is heartbreaking to announce this first death. Days before a gun rights protest that is set to take place this weekend at the Virginia Capitol, Gov. Ralph Northam declared an emergency, which will ban protesters from entering the grounds around the Capitol with firearms. The emergency, which was declared by executive order, will span Friday, January 17 at 5:00 p.m. until Tuesday, January 21 at 5:00 p.m.“Law enforcement intelligence analysts have identified credible threats of violence surrounding the event, along with white nationalist rhetoric and plans by out-of-state militia groups to attend,” said a statement from Northam’s office. Northam tweeted that the order was to protect citizens and lawmakers. “We support citizens’ rights to peacefully protest and express their views to their elected officials. But we must also keep the public, as well as those who work around Capitol Square, safe,” the governor tweeted.Northam, a Democrat elected in 2018, now enjoys partisan support from the Virginia House and Senate. Following the 2019 election, Democrats have the majority in the Virginia House of Delegates for the first time in more than two decades.
