WASHINGTON — Attorney General William Barr has told the Associated Press that the Justice Department has not uncovered widespread voter fraud that could have changed the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.Barr told the Associated Press that federal agents have followed up on numerous complaints and tips they've received, but have found no evidence of widespread voter fraud.“To date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have affected a different outcome in the election,” Barr told the AP.Barr's comments come as President Donald Trump continues to seek legal action to overturn election results in states won by president-elect Joe Biden. The Trump campaign has alleged widespread voter fraud in those lawsuits but has provided little evidence to prove the claim.The comments also come a month after Barr directed the Department of Justice to pursue any “substantial allegations” of voting irregularities in the days after the election.Barr, who has proven to be one of Trump's most staunch defenders in his current stint as Attorney General, questioned the security of mail-in ballots of the summer. Walmart, America's largest grocery, will deliver supermarket items to 40% of the nation's homes by the end of the year.Currently, Walmart only delivers online grocery orders to six markets, but it said it plans to expand to 100 different markets by the end of this year.The Walmart delivery service costs .95 per order and requires a minimum purchase.Until now Walmart has primarily offered quick pick-up of online grocery orders at its stores. But it is facing competition for online delivery of grocery purchases.Amazon is also making a big push into same-day grocery deliveries. Last year it purchased Whole Foods for .7 billion, giving it a much bigger network of brick-and-mortar grocery stores.In February Amazon unveiled free two-hour delivery of Whole Foods purchases for Prime members in four markets - Austin, Cincinnati, Dallas and Virginia Beach. It said it would expand that service to every Whole Foods by the end of the year.Target in December announced a 0 million purchase of Shipt. Target said at that time it would bring same-day delivery to about half of its stores by early this year.And Sam's Club, the wholesale club arm of Walmart, announced a partnership with Instacart two weeks ago that offers same-day delivery on groceries and household essentials in three markets: Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, and St. Louis. WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court is making it easier for the president to fire the head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The high court on Monday struck from the law that created the agency restrictions on when the president can remove the bureau’s director. The decision doesn’t have a big impact on the current head of the agency. Kathy Kraninger, who was nominated to her current post by the president in 2018, had said she believed the president could fire her at any time. 495

VISTA (CNS) — A man who beat his mother to death with a claw hammer in their Escondido apartment last year was sentenced Wednesday to 26 years to life in state prison.David Noel McGee Jr., 26, was convicted in May of first-degree murder for killing 55-year-old Rebecca "Becky" Apodaca.Deputy District Attorney Keith Watanabe said Apodaca failed to log in for her at-home medical billing job on Feb. 1, 2017, and failed to respond to messages left by her supervisor, family and friends. Apodaca's adult daughter went by the victim's apartment on North Hickory Street about 6:30 p.m. and found her mother unconscious on her blood-soaked bed.RELATED: Son accused of killing mom with claw hammerThe defendant -- naked and covered in blood -- was found hiding in a closet. He had self-inflicted knife wounds on his wrists and forearms and a self-inflicted knife wound across his neck, Watanabe said. A bloody toaster was plugged in and was sitting on the bathroom sink and an empty bottle of Benadryl was found in the bathroom.Levels of an over-the-counter antihistamine found in Benadryl were so high in the defendant's blood that he could have ingested 100 or more 25mg pills, the prosecutor said.Deputy Public Defender Lindsay Itzhaki said McGee's attack on his mother happened "in a fog of Benadryl," and that there was a difference between "killing and murder."RELATED: Man arrested, accused of killing mother in Escondido apartmentAfter his release from the hospital, McGee told police that he was depressed and blamed his mother for bringing him into the world.
