SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- A Pacific Beach man says his community is in need of a cleanup. He's raised hundreds of dollars to get it done.According to resident Adam Huntington, overgrown grass, untamed trees, and grimy sidewalks are just some of the mucky issues surrounding Pacific Beach.Huntington has been living in Pacific Beach for at least two decades."You've got beautiful architecture, beautiful masonry, that's just getting covered by grime and dirt."Huntington shared a video with 10News of a cruddy sidewalk on Garnet Avenue, one of Pacific Beach's main streets."We're in the middle of a pandemic right now," says Huntington. "We have an extremely unhealthy, unclean environment, and we force all of our restaurants to go outside and serve people."He hired a private company to power wash another area of Garnet Avenue over the weekend. The funds were raised by a GoFund Me Page. The cost of cleaning was ,200."We have people all over this community, wondering where our services are."We asked the city about why it's not using its services to clean up the area. A spokesperson said they don't have a statement at this time but encouraged anyone with a concern about cleanliness to report it on the city's "Get It Done" app.The city also tells 10News residents do not need a permit to clean or power wash a sidewalk on their own, but they must have a plan to prevent runoff from going into the storm drain. Huntington says he went with an eco-friendly company that followed those guidelines.The former lifeguard says to keep the beach area looking nice, he replaced the wooden barrier posts along the road that surrounds Crown Point."The reason people come to San Diego is to enjoy Mission Beach and Pacific Beach."With the help of two local hardware stores, Huntington says he was able to acquire power tools to continue to help spruce up the neighborhood.As for the overgrown brush, the city says its weed abatement program is back online since being paused due to COVID-19. 1988

Crews say now it's much safer.The unique aircraft transforms from a helicopter to a plane mid-flight. The trouble, four crashes killed 30 people during training missions from 1991-2000."Most every system on that aircraft has a triple redundant system, so that if there is a failure the other two systems pick up the slack," Corporal Tyler Gartin said. "The Osprey was able to land in places that other aircraft were not able to, and carry out a much higher payload than any other helicopter possibly could have. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Two men were stabbed and an officer was headbutted after a fight erupted between two groups outside a Gaslamp District nightclub.Two large groups of men were ejected from Phantom nightclub on Fifth Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. and got into a street fight outside, San Diego Police said. During the altercation, two men were stabbed.One of the victims, a 22-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen and taken to a nearby hospital. The other victim, a 24-year-old, received lacerations to his stomach, arms, and hands. Police say he was uncooperative and refused medical attention. Minutes later, he was contacted at 1200 3rd Avenue and fought with the responding officers, SDPD said.During the altercation, the man headbutted an officer and attempted to gouge out the eyes of another officer, police said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The woman who survived her mother jumping from the Coronado Bridge while holding her got to meet someone who was there that day.Bertha Loaiza was just 3-years-old when her mother leapt from the 246-tall bridge on August 5, 1985.Her mother never came to after hitting the water.“It was the first body I ever saw,” said Fred Maupin who was on his parents’ sailboat near the bridge that day, “at 10-years-old, that sticks with you.”Maupin remembers watching responders pull two bodies out of the water and tried to put the memory in the back of his mind, but says it grew with time.“That’s how it become more tragic and scarring,” said Maupin, “remembering that someone could do that with her baby.”RELATED:?Woman survived her mother's bridge suicide as a toddlerMaupin saw a story about Loaiza on Facebook a few weeks ago and knew he had to meet her in person.Fred hit the road early from Arizona on Friday and the two met for the first time at Gloriettta Bay Park “I feel like I have to apologize,” said Loaiza, “cause he’s gone through it in a different way than I have.”The two hugged then talked for more than an hour — Bertha even got him a gift.“I feel better that he can see that I’m okay,” said Loaiza, “he can remember that instead of the bad stuff.”“Taking a memory that was so haunting and turning the page,” said Maupin, “it’s a better ending to the story than I had in my mind.” 1436
