CHONGQING, June 27 (Xinhua) -- A delegation led by Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) chairman Chiang Pin-kung will arrive at Chongqing on Monday for the fifth round of talks with the mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS).The talks will be held on Tuesday, with the much-anticipated Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) and an agreement on intellectual property protection likely to be signed.Chiang told a news conference in Taipei Sunday that the signing of ECFA would profoundly influence Taiwan's economy, particularly in trade and investment, as well as the development of relations between Taiwan and the mainland.He said he expected a positive change of Taiwan's economic development mode after the signing of ECFA.The two sides will hold a vice-chairman level preparatory discussion on Monday afternoon.After the talks, Wang Yi, head of the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office, will meet the SEF negotiators on Tuesday.Bo Xilai, secretary of the Chongqing municipal committee of the Communist Party of China, will also meet the representatives from the two sides on Wednesday morning.The SEF delegation is scheduled to leave Chongqing on Wednesday afternoon.Since June 2008, when regular talks between the SEF and ARATS were restarted, the two sides had held four rounds of talks respectively in Beijing, Taipei, Nanjing and Taichung.The talks brought about several agreements regarding among other things: mainlanders visiting Taiwan, cross-Strait shipping, air transportation, cooperation in fighting against crime and mutual legal assistance.

HANGZHOU, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Three people are dead and two others still buried Friday after a rain-triggered landslide in east China's Zhejiang Province.The landslide hit Taolin Village of Chun'an County at 5:00 a.m. Friday as villagers were being evacuated from their homes. The area had been pounded by rain since Thursday afternoon, said Tong Xiaowei, deputy county head.Debris swamped two residential houses, burying six residents and two others assisting with the evacuation, Tong said.Three of the eight people were injured and were receiving treatment at hospital, Tong said.About 300 fire fighters, policemen, medical personnel and villagers had joined in the rescue work, he said.Provincial meteorological authorities forecast Thursday that heavy rain would persist for another week. BEIJING, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- The state-owned assets in China's centrally-administered state-owned enterprises (SOE) reached 2.01 trillion yuan (297.40 billion U.S. dollars) by the end of June, up 10.71 percent from 2008, China's state-owned assets regulator said on Thursday.Nearly a quarter of the SOEs have state-owned assets over 10 billion yuan each, while six have state-owned assets over 100 billion yuan, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission said in a statement on its website."China's state-owned capital has been flowing towards big companies with international competitiveness," said the statement.Some 30 central SOEs are listed as Fortune 500 companies. They are in sectors such as telecommunications, power generation and petro-chemicals.The number of China's central SOEs is 123 in August this year, down from 196 at the beginning of 2003.
