In a letter sent to 950 patients, University Hospitals Fertility Center blames human error for the loss of 4,000 eggs and embryos, twice the number initially reported.The letter says the Cleveland hospital is “heartbroken” to inform patients it is “unlikely” any of the eggs and embryos are viable.The letter says a remote alarm system on the storage tank containing the eggs and embryos, which was designed to alert a UH employee to temperature fluctuations, was turned off.It is unclear when the remote alarm was turned off, but an alert to an employee as the temperature inside the tank began to rise Saturday night was not sent or received, according to the letter.It is also unclear who turned off the alarm and how long the alarm was turned off.The lab was not staffed March 3, the night of the malfunction. There was also a history of malfunctions involving the storage tank.In the letter, UH said the storage tank in question “needed preventative maintenance.”For weeks prior to the malfunction on March 3, “we experienced difficulty with what is called the liquid nitrogen automatic fill” and were working with the manufacturer to correct the problem.“My clients’ lives and future aspirations were crushed and destroyed. Finding out how simple of a matter it would have been to prevent this tragedy shakes my faith in the medical profession to the core,” said Brian Taubman, an attorney representing patients affected by the malfunction, in a statement to Scripps station WEWS in Cleveland. “My clients trusted UH with their future family, never doubting that those lives were safeguarded and with the flip of a switch their lives and potential lives were changed forever,” said Taubman.The hospital also says it takes responsibility for the failures and apologized several times to the affected patients. One of the officers responded to Scott, “I don’t care.”The video shows officers struggling to place Scott in handcuffs.Unlike in the Floyd incident, the only video available from last May’s incident was from body camera footage.The May 2019 incident began on a call of a black man carrying a gun. After police arrived, officers talked to Scott. The body cam footage then showed officers chasing a fleeing Scott.Officers caught up to him and tackled Scott. Two officers straddled Scott until a third officer arrived and told Scott to stop resisting.It took all three officers to bring Scott into custody. An officer continued to hold a knee against Scott’s leg.Scott then didn’t say anything for four minutes, which prompted officers to call for EMTs. Scott died an hour later. HUDSON, Fla. — The online ad for NBEE TV makes big promises, like “our smart box will bring every movie, every tv show that’s ever been made, plus live sports with no blackouts.”The ad also promises “no monthly fees ever.”The Pasco Sheriff’s Office says NBEE TV, owned by Mickael Cantrell and Nancy Major, was selling these boxes out in the open.They cost between 0 and 0 and are modified to illegally stream all kinds of content.“This is someone blatantly on the side of the road just selling them, with signage, a store front; advertising on the internet with a website,” said Detective Darren Hill.Video piracy is a multi-billion dollar problem for the entertainment industry.And there are countless ways people are downloading illegally.It’s often a cat and mouse game to catch those responsible.But in this case, Hill found a statute that applied and checked with the State Attorney’s Office to make sure an arrest would stick.He also worked with the Motion Picture Association of America after seeing first run movies streamed through this box.“We saw that it had 'Black Panther', 'The Shape Of Water', 'Jumanji' was on there as well. Whenever someone steals that content and disseminates it for free, it usually results in higher prices for everyone else,” he saidHill said some people who bought these boxes have already turned them in as evidence.
