SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver they say struck and killed a pedestrian in Mission Hills Thursday before fleeing the scene.According to police, the 57-year-old man was struck by the vehicle while crossing the street on the 1300 block of West Washington Avenue just after midnight. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.Based on their investigation, police believe the suspect’s vehicle is a 2001-2002 Hyundai Sonata with damage to the headlamps or windshield.Anyone with information is asked to call the San Diego Police Department's Traffic Division at 858-495-7805 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.Crime stoppers is offering up to a ,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest. 758

Opponents have contributed million.As written on the ballot, Proposition 15 will "increase funding sources for public schools, community colleges, and local government services by changing tax assessment of commercial and industrial property."The Proposition will raise commercial and industrial property taxes by reassessing property based on current values. Under 1978's Proposition 13, property tax has been calculated based on the value when the property was last sold.The change in tax assessments could bring the state anywhere from billion to billion every year.Because so much money is at stake, stakeholders are willing to spend a lot to sway voters."With those being the stakes, we felt compelled to do whatever is necessary to raise funds to defeat this thing," says Michael Bustamante, the Spokesperson for the No on Prop 15 campaign committee. Thursday, crews from Big Trees Nursery began removing dozens of trees from the property."I couldn't believe it," neighbor Brian Edmonston told 10News. "I thought it was outrageous and it was a cruel thing to do."In 2017, owner Michael Schlesinger backed a ballot measure which would have allowed him to build more than 100 condos on the land.  The day after Poway voters rejected the plan, Schlesinger closed the club.Poway City Councilmember Barry Leonard told 10News that because the land is private property and the trees being removed are not "native trees", Schlesinger is within his rights to remove and sell the trees.Leonard also said that because Schlesinger terminated water service to the property, he would rather see the trees removed than die. 908

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police body-worn cameras captured the parents of Trevor Heitmann pleading with officers to hospitalize their son just hours before he killed himself and two others in a high-speed car crash.In August 2018, Trevor Heitmann, known on his popular YouTube channel as McSkillet, ultimately drove the wrong way down the 805 at speeds over 100 miles per hour before the fatal accident.A lawsuit filed against the City of San Diego claims, police officers failed “to act in accordance with the statute and carry out their mandatory duty,” and as a result, Heitmann, “subsequently and predictably endangered the lives of others and himself and drove his vehicle at speeds in excess of 100 mph, striking Aileen and Aryana Pizarro's vehicle and endangering other members of the public.”The lawsuit goes on to say, “Because he was not evaluated by defendants to determine if he was a danger to himself or others, he was able to carry on with his erratic and mentally unstable behavior, and ultimately colliding head-on with Aileen Lydia Pizarro's vehicle, and thereby, causing fatal injuries to Aileen and Aryana Pizarro." 1137
