(KGTV) - In a vigil of hope held Friday night, at least 60 people shared their homes that an El Cajon teen who is reported missing in Phoenix would soon be found. Nineteen-year-old Kiera Bergman grew up in El Cajon and went to Valhalla High School, her aunt, Mindy Tarantino told 10News. The teen moved to Phoenix earlier this year with her boyfriend. Bergman's roommate reported her missing Monday when she didn’t return home and had not shown up to work.“We were told she left her house without her purse, without her car, why would she do that,” Tarantino said. “This isn't in her character. She doesn't stop communicating with people.”Kiera’s mother and sister are in Phoenix waiting for any word from the police. Meantime, her family and friends in El Cajon lit candles and prayed for her safe return.“We haven’t slept in this whole week. It’s just horrible,” Tarantino told the crowd, reminding them to stay optimistic. “Somebody is going to crack and lead us to her.” 1014

EL CAJON, Calif. (CNS) - An unattended kitchen stove was blamed for an apartment fire in El Cajon Tuesday evening that caused damage to six apartments and displaced at least 20 residents.Deputies responded to the 400 block of East Bradley Avenue, near Magnolia Avenue, about 7:25 p.m. and found a second story apartment fully engulfed in flames, according to Sgt. Patrick Fox of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.The fire immediately threatened at least 10 apartments, all of which were evacuated, and an additional 10 apartments directly south of where the fire occurred were evacuated as a precaution, Fox said.Firefighters from the San Miguel, Santee and El Cajon fire departments were able to extinguish the flames and deputies learned no one was inside the apartment when the fire started, he said.The occupants of the apartment where the fire began were interviewed by authorities and it was determined the kitchen stove was left on and unattended, sparking the fire, Fox said.No injuries were reported, but one apartment was damaged by fire, one unit sustained water damage and four others sustained water and smoke damage, Fox said.Residents of the 10 apartments south of where the fire started were allowed to return home, but about 20 residents from the other 10 apartments remained evacuated due to the power in those units being turned off. San Diego Gas & Electric crews were working to restore power, Fox said.The Red Cross set up a temporary staging area for affected residents in the Kelly's Pub parking lot, 719 E. Bradley Ave. 1564

(KGTV)- An El Cajon family says the least valuable items stolen during a recent burglary are the ones they most desperate to get back.  Last Friday, Shannon Torres returned to her home along Murray Drive around noon with her 3-year-old son. "Her heart dropped. She was terrified," said husband Omar Torres.Torres says she found the front unlocked and the French doors leading into the family room open."They had kicked it open and splintered it up near the top," he said.Inside the house, the bedroom drawers were open and Shannon's jewelry boxes were gone and along with them, dozens of pieces of jewelry.Among the missing items: a pearl necklace from her aunt that Shannon wore at her wedding, diamond earrings from her husband for their anniversary, and a silver-and-gold bird necklace. The latter was a Mother's Day present. The couple have three sons, ages eight, six and three."It's very sad. Heartbreaking," said Torres.That feeling was made more intense when they realized what else was in the jewelry boxes: a yellow-and-white flash drive on a key ring and a black SanDisk memory stick. On them were the birth videos of their sons, along with videos and stills of each of their first year of life."It was a tremendous time we want to be able to relive and now we can't on those videos. During a briefing Sunday evening, President Donald Trump seemed to indicate he would commit to a friendly transition of power after the election, should he lose."I think we’re going to have a tremendous victory. I don’t think there will be a transition. They say ‘will there be a friendly transition?’ Of course there will. But when we win they don’t call it a transition, do they," the president said. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - The owner of a bike shop came upon a heartbreaking scene: glass everywhere and pricey, custom bikes stolen. "You just feel violated right away," said Jason Guthrie, owner of Chainline Bikes on Pioneer Way.On Sunday morning, he went to his shop to fetch a bike for a ride. "Came around and saw the cable had been pulled through the window. All the glass was here. My heart dropped. It was on the floor with the glass," said Guthrie.The intruder had tossed a large rock, smashing a side glass door. The alarm didn't go off. Once inside, the intruder sliced the security cable."There were four empty slots in the rack," said Guthrie.Four mountain bikes - three of them custom made - were missing, worth about ,000."For a small shop, a couple thousand dollars worth makes a huge difference ... keeps our lights on for the next month," said Guthrie.Among the bikes that vanished is "Mary." "Everybody knew the bike by name," said Guthrie.Painted by the shop, the bike became well known in the mountain biking community and the shop's mascot."Whenever I would go to bike parks from here up to Whistler, Canada, they would know my bike and not necessarily me," said Guthrie.Guthrie says one of the bikes had actually sold online the night it was stolen.
