Residents in Freeport, Grand Bahamas woke up to severely flooded neighborhoods on Tuesday following the devastation left by Hurricane Dorian. United Nations officials estimate more than 60,000 people in the northwest Bahamas will need food following the catastrophic natural disaster. Tim Aylen, a Bahamian journalist assisting The Associated Press with the hurricane coverage, had to abandon his home with his family due to the flooding. Speaking about some of his work, Aylen said he had no idea he would be shooting pictures of himself and his family evacuating their home as part of his coverage. Early Tuesday, Aylen could be seen wadding through chest-level flood waters as he made his way through the streets of Arden Forest in Freeport.His 21-year-old daughter Julia Aylen, and 17-year-old son Matthew Aylen, along with their three dogs were seeking higher ground Tuesday morning, with images showing their exhaustion from the ordeal. Several people are dead after a gunman opened fire near a downtown Dayton, Ohio entertainment district early Sunday morning.A few hours later, a crowd gathered around the scene of the mass shooting, looking at the bullet holes left behind.Anthony Hickson heard the gun shots and describes what happened next.“Everybody started bomb rushing and you knew something bad was going on,” he said. “People running over top of each other, because you could really only get out of one doorway.”Holding back his tears, Dayton local Christian Stargell said this shooting has shaken this community to its core.“The past couple of months have been real tough for Dayton, and I think we’ve seen how we can come together and handle it,” he said.Coming together in this time of need.“I’m doing this because I love Dayton and I want to do what's best for Dayton,” said Nicole Cornett of BIllie Gold Bubble Tea. Bernie Sanders is set to stake out uncharted territory in the Democratic presidential primary, offering up a plan to completely eliminate the student loan debt of every American.On Monday, Sanders will submit legislation that cancels .6 trillion of student loan undergraduate and graduate debt for approximately 45 million people. His ambitious plan has no eligibility limitations and would be paid for with a new tax on Wall Street speculation.The proposal goes further than the plan already unveiled by his Democratic primary rival Sen. Elizabeth Warren. Warren's debt relief package was subject to income eligibility levels to determine how much relief the average person would receive -- parameters that Warren said were aimed at closing the racial wealth gap. Under the Sanders plan, if you have student debt of any kind it would be canceled the second the legislation is signed into law.Sanders will announce the legislation alongside Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar and Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal, co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.This rollout comes at a time when second place in Democratic primary polling, behind former Vice President Joe Biden, seems up for grabs -- with Warren rising in recent voter surveys.
