SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — There have been 137 community outbreaks reported in San Diego County since June 1, according to San Diego County health officials.Since March 25, the county has reported 164 community outbreaks that have resulted in 1,220 coronavirus cases:March: 3April: 16May: 8June: 34July: 93August: 10County officials broke those numbers down from June 1, 2020, to Aug. 4, 2020, where the majority of community outbreaks have been reported at restaurant/bar and business settings. See the data below:The county adds that community outbreaks between June and August from business, restaurant, and restaurant/bar settings have resulted in a total of 212 cases in June, 508 cases in July, and 48 cases in August. On Wednesday, the county reported 30 community outbreaks, much high than the county's trigger of seven in a week.Even though a restaurant or restaurant/bar is linked to a community outbreak, County Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten says that doesn't mean a business is failing to adhere to public health orders.RELATED: San Diego County Board approves plan to allow businesses to operate at county parks"It may not mean there's anything going on wrong at the restaurant or at the restaurant/bar," Wooten said. "Most of our outbreaks we do deploy an assessment team and if they are restaurants, the Department of Environmental Health has taken that role until, as of Tuesday, when that will now be under the (county) compliance program."Wooten said investigators visit a reported business and make sure they are adhering to signage, social distancing, face covering, and sanitation measures. The county has said in the past it doesn't name locations where a community outbreak was traced to in order to encourage businesses to cooperate with COVID-19 case contact tracers. 1799

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Red Arrows aerial team, part of the British Royal Air Force, is appearing at the 2019 MCAS Miramar Air Show. “The team has been to North America 11 year ago but not to this scale, this is pretty big for us,” said flight Lt. Toby Keeley. The Red Arrows are known for their Diamond 9 formation and the red, white, and blue smoke that trails the aircraft. The job comes with unique perks. “If not the highlight of my red arrows tour was meeting her majesty the queen at Windsor Castle this year.” 525

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Police Department has identified the officer involved in an East Village shooting over the weekend as Andres Ruiz. The department says Ruiz is assigned to the Canine Unit and has been with the department for more than 11 years. The incident started just before 10 p.m. on May 23 at an apartment complex on Park Boulevard and Market Street. Police were called to the complex following reports of a woman trowing objects from a window. When they arrived, officers found broken glass and furniture on the sidewalk below the unit. RELATED: Woman hurt in officer-involved shooting in East VillageAuthorities say the woman refused to listen and brandished a knife, continuing to throw objects from the window and refusing to come out of the building, prompting police to force their way into the building. After the woman locked herself into the bathroom, police used verbal direction, chemical agents, and a police canine in an effort to take the woman into custody. When officers made their way into the bathroom, the department says the woman grabbed and punched the canine and threatened officers with the knife. “One officer fearing that he was going to be struck or stabbed with a knife, fired at least one round striking the female,” said Capt. Rich Freedman of the San Diego Police Department. The woman was treated and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No officers were injured, but some people were hit by objects that were thrown out of the window. The suspect has only been identified as a 26-year-old San Diego resident. 1593

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Rock Church is making holiday giving even easier, teaming up with Express Feedback for Good to raise money for their Toys for Joy campaign.Under the new program, people can sign up to take on-line surveys. For each one they take, the Church will get towards their holiday fundraiser."This is a life or death situation for some kids and some families," says Pastor Miles McPherson. The Toys for Joy program is now in its 23rd year. Each year the Church helps around 20,000 families with food, clothing, toys, and more for the holidays. McPherson says he hopes the new survey tool will inspire people to do more."The express feedback tool gives people the opportunity to do something to help somebody, but we want them to take the next step, touch a person, smile at a person, hear someone's story," he says. The surveys only take about one minute each, and there's a limit of 100 per person. The Church says they hope to raise 0,000 from the surveys, to help supplement the other donations they get each year. The company, Express Feedback for Good, takes the information from the survey and sells it to businesses to help them serve their customers better."It's a win/win for both parties," says Product Manager Dena Coykendall. "The non-profit can create resources, and business can collect information from a crowd that's more representative."This year, the Rock Church will have four locations for their Toys for Joy campaign on December 14th. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The Padres are making their first playoff appearance since 2006, but unfortunately, no fans are allowed into Petco Park to watch thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, one big Padres fan will get to see the action from afar. You see Chip Messenger is able to watch the game from his fifteenth-floor balcony that overlooks the stadium."I tell you what, I love being here besides the concerts and the monster trucks, I love baseball season because it's the best especially winning baseball, which we haven't seen in a long time. It's amazing, as this building wasn't even here the last time the Padres were in the playoffs."Chip is a huge Padres fan, and although he's about fifty yards from the field, he makes sure his voice is always heard."it's going to be loud, " he says. "Especially with all the other balconies, I anticipate it will be a home-field advantage. I have a megaphone and I can be as loud as I need to with the megaphone."Chip normally watches about 80% of Padres home games from his balcony and while most seasons have been pretty tough, he says there is nothing better than playoff baseball."It's tough that we can't be in the stadium, but with the energy level they know we're here, they can here us we got horns and bells and whistles. The people who can see into the stadium are definitely supporting the team." 1364
