A California man was arrested over the weekend after allegedly making a mass shooting threat to get out of going to a county fair with his parents, authorities said Saturday.According to the Pomona Police Department, Erik Villasenor emailed the Los Angeles County Fair staff on Friday afternoon and made false threats of violence.Pomona Police Chief Mike Olivieri said the email read, "Hello I was told that someone was planning on doing a mass shooting on Sunday at the fairgrounds. I just wanted to inform you guys already."The Sylmar, California, resident was suppose to go to the fair with his parents Sunday, Olivieri said at a press conference. Investigators believe he sent the threat in order to get out of going to the event with his family."Though he's 22, he felt it was appropriate to send this threat ... we believe it was with the intent it would spark some chaos and commotion, be captured on the media, and use it as an excuse to his parents to not go to the fair," Olivieri said at the Saturday press conference.Villasenor admitted it was a hoax when authorities tracked him down, police said."This is a great outcome for the fair and it really provided us an opportunity to test the kind of security systems we have worked so hard to create," said Miguel Santana, the president and CEO of Fairplex, the venue where the fair is held.Villasenor was arrested on a charge of making false threats and was booked at the Pomona County Jail. A gunman is on the run after killing two people in a car on a Houston freeway as horrified motorists watched during the Thursday evening rush hour, authorities said.Police initially got a call of an accident at 5:55 p.m., but when they arrived seven minutes later, they found a shooting scene.The fatal incident started as a crash involving two cars headed eastbound on Interstate 10, Houston Police Assistant Chief Bobby Dobbins said Thursday evening at a news conference."One of the vehicles struck the other vehicle and spun it out ... similar to a pit maneuver," he said, according to video of the news conference tweeted by Houston Police.Gunman fired as the car rolled downhillTwo occupants of the vehicle that rammed the other car got out, Dobbins said. A Halloween display featuring President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama put up outside of a Fowlerville, Michigan, auto shop has drawn concern and even death threats to the owner. The original display was put up three weeks ago outside of Quality Coatings on Carr Street. It was a scarecrow with Trump’s facemask holding a rope and Obama’s facemask at the bottom of the rope. Under the Trump scarecrow foot was a Hillary Clinton mask. Just a few days ago, the auto shop owner took down the rope and Obama’s head and placed a sash on the Trump scarecrow that says, “PC Police.” A post on social media displaying the original decorations went viral, with many claiming the rope looked like a noose. The shop owner, who refused to go on camera, says it was not meant to be racist, rather the rope was meant to look like a spine and a move from the game Mortal Kombat. "I feel like it was supposed to be a noose and he says there’s no winners, yet who’s holding Obama's head?," said Ashley Tyler who lives near the display.
