SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - There is a memorial of candles, notes, and flowers along 4th Avenue near Main Street in Chula Vista.They are in memory of 23-year-old Christina Garcia, who was found dead at a nearby field on Aug. 5th. Chula Vista police say they were called out to 3100 block of Main Street after someone found her body. They say she had an apparent gunshot wound and opened a homicide case.“That afternoon, she wanted to see her daughter and pick up the truck, so it was a brief encounter,” her mother, Lisa Garcia, said. “I expected her to come back, and I wish I took advantage of that situation longer.”Lisa says Christina leaves behind a two-year-old daughter.“I think the saddest thing for me is that her daughter is only going to know her through pictures because she’s so young,” She said. “She’s never going to remember her mom’s touch, her kiss, her voice.”Lisa says her daughter was very likable and smart.“She tested out in the 10th grade and started southwestern college and finished her classes there,” Lisa said. She was also a skilled welder and liked working with her hands. Most recently, they bought a home and worked on remodeling it.“She’s very hands-on, like her mom,” Lisa said, “you know, taking the popcorn ceiling down, remodeling the walls.”She says it’s been tough knowing Christina’s killer has not been caught. Lisa says she has many questions and is cannot find any closure without finding answers.“Was she dumped there? Was she shot there? SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego native trapped beneath snow for several minutes following an avalanche is thanking those who saved him.“Big props to the civilian skiers around us who were very prepared. There was a bunch of people with avalanche gear and shovels who acted incredibly quickly and were able to dig me out,” said Evan Huck.Huck and his wife Kahlynn were among five skiers and snow boarders rescued after an avalanche Friday at the Squaw Valley Ski Resort near Lake Tahoe.RELATED: San Diego native and wife caught in Squaw Valley avalancheHuck grew up on Coronado and recently got married to Kahlynn. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego family of a Los Angeles firefighter who may have been kidnapped in Rosarito, Mexico, is speaking out.It’s been more than two weeks since 20-year veteran LA City firefighter Frank Aguilar was last seen after heading to his second home in Baja, California.“We’re hopeful. We haven't lost hope,” his local cousin Nancy told ABC10 News. She’s only providing a first name, due to safety concerns. “Nobody seems to know anything and it's very frustrating for the family to not know anything."On Wednesday, LA Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that his office learned from Mexican authorities that the 48-year-old firefighter may have been violently kidnapped from his Baja condo. “We will work tirelessly to make sure that Frank is returned safely,” he said in a news conference."[The mayor] did mention that he is going to provide all resources from Los Angeles to help get my dad back,” said daughter Amaris Aguilar.“I had just spoken to my dad the morning that we discovered he was missing. When he left for Rosarito, he was describing how safe or how good he felt in that community.
