Unique hardly describes the lawsuit Scarlett Watts and her attorney recently filed in Florida federal court.Scarlett Watts said she was only days late on her house payment when her mortgage company called looking for their money.  Watts describes the exchange between her and the debt collector as tense but nothing more. Later that day she received a string of obscene text messages.The texts called Watts vulgar names and mentioned her late bill not once but twice.She called the mortgage company and they denied any wrongdoing on behalf of their employee.Attorney Billy Howard has filed a harassment suit on Watt’s behalf against the lender based on Florida and federal law that makes it illegal for a debt collector to harass a borrower on their cell phone.Next Howard plans to subpoena phone records to determine if the texts may have come from a company phone or an employee's phone.Watts says she decided to take legal action to teach the texter a lesson and hopefully collect a few thousand dollars. Twenty years ago this week, Matthew Shepard died after being beaten, burned and left tied to a fence in Wyoming by two men who targeted him because he was gay.Since then, Shepard's parents have spread his legacy by going around the world advocating for civic and LGBTQ rights.But they hadn't found a place that felt safe enough to lay their son's ashes to rest.Until now.On October 26, Shepard will be interred at the Washington National Cathedral, the Matthew Shepard Foundation said."When Matt was taken from us, we hadn't had any death or plots plans," his parents, Judy and Dennis Shepard, said in an email. "We were living overseas at the time, and from a practical standpoint, we did not want our son to be put to rest on the other side of the world."But burying him near home didn't feel like an option either."We didn't want to leave him in Wyoming to be a point of pilgrimage that may be a nuisance to other families in a cemetery. We didn't want to open up the option for vandalism. So we had him cremated and held onto the urn until we figured out the proper thing to do."Now, the Shepards say they have found the right time and the perfect place. 1171

Two dogs are safe after running onto a Phoenix freeway and disrupting traffic on Wednesday. Video from Scripps station KNXV in Phoenix showed two dogs running onto Interstate 17 near Deer Valley Road. The Arizona Department of Public Safety tried to catch the dogs, but they refused to stop. DPS stopped traffic for a brief time while troopers and Phoenix firefighters attempted to stop the dogs. Officials were able to grab one dog on I-17, but the other dog ran from DPS and away from the freeway into an RV park.Residents at the RV park were able to capture the second dog after almost an hour of running free. KNXV caught up with the dog and the owner: DOG CHASE: DPS following dogs on I-17/Deer Valley in Phoenix.
