She's not taking new customers except for one man."Seeing him being take advantage of makes me very angry. Wanted to help even more. I want him to see the legacy of my mom and dad. (CNS) - Authorities Thursday announced a ,000 reward for information in connection with the January stabbing death of a teenage boy during a fight in Chula Vista.Devin Griffiths, 15, was at a birthday party in the 900 block of Maria Way when a fight between two other teens broke out around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 31, according to Chula Vista police.At one point during the fight, Griffiths -- who was not initially involved in the argument -- jumped in to help a friend who was being attacked by several young men, police said. They were all described as white or Hispanic and believed to be between 17 and 20 years old.The victim's family has pledged a ,000 reward, in addition to a ,000 reward from Crime Stoppers, for information that leads to an arrest in the case.Lee Griffiths said of his son's death, "My world was taken away. My heart is crushed."Griffiths added, "When I saw my son the hospital, both of his hands and knuckles were broken open, which tells me he fought these guys. And I'm very proud of him and angry with him at the same time."Police have been trying to interview witnesses and other attendees at the party. They hope the reward encourages more people to come forward, and they're also looking for cell phone or surveillance footage of the incident."I'm really hoping that somebody will come and do the right thing," said Griffiths. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - The Chula Vista Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that happened Saturday night on Telegraph Canyon Road. Surveillance at a nearby business captured the accident."Of course it was scary watching the video, right in front of our workplace here, it is scary," said Hector Ruiz, a Chula Vista real estate agent.At around 8:25 p.m., a man is seen crossing the road outside of a crosswalk. He makes it past the eastbound lanes but is then hit by a car traveling west.The driver remained on scene after the crash and has been investigating with officers. The driver did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol; no charges are expected to be filed against him. Ruiz says he is constantly worried about speeding along that stretch of Telegraph Canyon Road.Chula Vista Police say they welcome tips from the public regarding dangerous roads or places where drivers tend to speed. They can bring speed trailers to those areas to determine if there is a speeding problem. 1028

CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- With cases of coronavirus continuing to spike in the United States, Southwestern College announced Tuesday that the campus will be conducting courses online for about a week as a precautionary measure.Students and campus staff are moving all in-person classes to online or distributed instruction from March 16 through the 20.The decision joins numerous other institutions throughout the country to help suppress the spread of the virus.List: Major universities suspending in-person classes amid coronavirus fears"This is a rapidly changing situation and we appreciate everyone’s patience as college leadership works to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment for our students, employees and community," said SWC President Kindred Murillo said.They are also canceling "large public events at all our campuses." (KGTV) - A Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team [FCMAT] is in place to review financial decisions in the Sweetwater Union High School District amid a severe budget shortfall. Michael Fine of FCMAT said Tuesday his team is investigating the district’s spending. The team is currently reviewing documents and will be in the county later this month to interview personnel within the district, Fine said.The Sweetwater Union High School District is about million in debt for the 2018-2019 school year due to fiscal mismanagement. District officials previously said the shortage was due to expenses from staff raises, including costs of substitute teachers and an unexpected million expense for utilities.
