SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - In a few days, the San Diego Air & Space Museum will become the first museum in Balboa Park to reopen amid the pandemic."Very, very anxious to get back to business ... We are ready to go," said Jim Kidrick, President of the San Diego Air & Space Museum.Among the precautions: masks, social distancing, and fewer people. The museum will be at operating at 30% visitor capacity. You'll see hand sanitizer everywhere and a lot of plexiglass when interacting with staff."We want to make sure guests not just visually feel good, but also feel good as they experience the Air & Space Museum," said Kidrick.One of the big challenges for any museum will be visitor interactions with exhibits and touchscreens. Here, each visitor will be handed a stylus pen."Any moment with interactivity where they would normally push with their finger, they can push with their stylus," said Kidrick.One precaution visitors won't see will happen at the staff entrance. Employees will be funneled toward a mounted, state-of-the-art thermal imaging scanner."You walk up to it and frames your face. The team is giving its first look at next year's new brown uniforms this fall.The Padres are set to debut their new 2020 uniforms at an event on Nov. 9 at Petco Park, a team spokesperson confirmed to 10News. The news originally dropped after President of Business Operations Erik Greupner revealed the date on Twitch.Since January, fans have waited in anticipation of seeing the new brown uniforms after the team announced the color change. Some form of brown and mustard was used in Padres' jerseys until 1984. The inclusion of brown was abandoned after the 1990 season when the team took on a blue and orange color scheme. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Long wait times have always been a problem at the DMV, the way to avoid that was to make an appointment online to skip the long lines. For people needing to renew their license like Debby Herscovitz, they had to plans months in advance, “I went online, booked an appointment, but I had no idea it was going to be in March”. Herscovitz got a notification from the DMV in the mail to renew her license back in December and immediately tried to make an appointment. She tells us the first available time slot was at the end of March, “I absolutely had no idea it was going to take that long”. A DMV representative tells 10News, drivers are trying to avoid the hours long line at the DMV by making an appointment online. Because so many people are scheduling appointments, the appointments are filling up faster than ever before. For Herscovitz, her appointment would have taken a total of 15 minutes to get her Real ID, however she didn’t have all the necessary documents. The DMV tells 10News to help people adjust to the new requirements and be prepared for their appointments they have a video people can watch before they make the trip in. Despite having to plan months in advance, the DMV says it’s still the best idea to schedule an appointment online before heading to a nearby office. Tips to keep in mind that could help with the scheduling process: don’t rule out nearby offices because some might not be as busy as others. Also, continue to check back online to see if any cancellations were made. Here in San Diego, there are also a few offices with extended hours and that are open on Saturdays. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Lime can still operate its dockless scooters and bikes in San Diego, after the city's petition to revoke the company's permit was denied.Tuesday, a hearing officer reportedly refused the city's petition to revoke Lime's Shared Mobility Device (SMD) permit. The city argued that Lime violated municipal code on several occasions.“Lime is pleased with today’s decision and we appreciate the hearing officer for recognizing our compliance in San Diego. As San Diego’s longest serving operator, we value our partnership with the City and look forward to continuing to serve the community," Lime said in a statement.RELATED: City Council committee OKs changes to dockless scooter, bike lawIn August, Lime was made aware of the city's intent to revoke their SMD permit after they said the company failed to address speeding violations within the city's geofenced areas. A letter to Lime from the city's Development Services Department claimed the company had violated San Diego Municipal Code on July 13, July 14, and Aug 1.Dockless scooters and bikes are required to have a 8 mph speed restriction in high-traffic areas areas like Spanish landing and near Petco park, and as low as 3 mph along the Embarcadero and the Martin Luther King Jr. Promenade."The Mayor has made it abundantly clear that operators who don’t follow rules meant to protect public safety could lose their permit and no longer do business in San Diego anymore. That’s exactly what is being done in this case," a statement from the city said.Lime argued that they were in fact in compliance, adding at the time "it is unfortunate they have chosen to move forward with this hearing" and offering to demonstrate their compliance to the city in a letter from Lime to Mayor Kevin Faulconer.After approving an initial package of rules in April, the city council is set to consider adding new regulations on dockless scooters and bicycles, including:A rider curfew from midnight to 5 a.m.;Usage of one device per government ID;A fine structure and punitive actions for companies that violate regulations;Eliminating the original ordinance's provision that allows for temporary fleet spikes during large events;Authorizing the city to reduce a company's fleet size if it poses a public safety hazard;Authorizing the city to suspend a company outright for multiple violations; andRequiring the eventual use of geofencing technology to keep riders from traversing the city's sidewalks. 2468

White spent more than 30 years in America’s Finest City as a reporter and anchor at KGTV 10News.White grew up in Oceanside and graduated from Oceanside High School in 1957. He was even inducted into the school’s hall of fame for his contribution to the arts.White began his broadcasting career on the radio in the early 1960s before moving to TV where he spent 34 years at KGTV.On November 14, 2010, the City of San Diego declared Jack White Day. The county made a similar declaration. Many who worked with him called him a gentleman and a great coworker. After leaving 10News, White worked as a technical advisor on the movie “Anchorman.”White covered every story there was to be covered in San Diego. His Restaurant Row coverage was known as a 10News staple. His iconic line in this popular segment was "The meal was served piping hot, just the way I like it."White will be missed by many, both in the community and at 10News. 1014
