NEW DELHI, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and visiting Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu Saturday agreed that India and China should further their cooperation in all fields.During his meeting with Singh, Hui conveyed cordial greetings from Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao to Singh. BEIJING, May 31 (Xinhua) -- China's gasoline prices will be cut by 230 yuan (33.7 U.S. dollars) per tonne and diesel prices by 220 yuan per tonne from Tuesday, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced Monday.The price cuts came after a record high in price hikes in April. The previous price cut was in September 2009.Before the adjustment, the benchmark price of gasoline was 7,420 yuan per tonne and diesel 6,680 yuan per tonne.Cao Changqing, head of price department of the NDRC, said the adjustment was "timely and in a proper amount" in response to recent changes in the international crude oil prices.International crude oil prices had been rising before May, when they began to decline, the NDRC statement said. The recent drops had amounted to 4 percent, meeting price adjustment conditions, it added.Cao said the move was also based on the global and domestic economic sitations and oil supply and demand as well as the country's pricing mechanism.In 2009, China adopted an oil pricing mechanism that allows the NDRC to adjust retail fuel prices when the international crude oil price changes by more than 4 percent over 22 straight working daysThe government would raise benchmark prices for domestically-produced onshore natural gas by 230 yuan per thousand cubic meters, or 24.9 percent, to 1,155 yuan per thousand cubic meters because of relatively low prices and strong demand, he said.

HONG KONG, April 23 (Xinhua) -- The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region held Friday a grand funeral ceremony to say goodbye to well-known businessman Tsui Tsin-tong, who was also a noted social activist, philanthropist and a close friend to the Communist Party of China.Tsui was also a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee before he died of an illness on April 2 this year in the Chinese capital of Beijing at the age of 69.Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, the country's top advisory body, and Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping had both sent messages of condolences to Tsui's family after Tsui's death.In their messages of condolences, Jia and Xi praised Tsui for his great contributions to Hong Kong's stable transition, smooth handover from Britain to China and Hong Kong's lasting prosperity, as well as Tsui's contributions to Chinese mainland's reform-and- opening-up drive and modernization.Tsui's funeral ceremony was held at Hong Kong's landmark Convention and Exhibition Center in the day. BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- China Tuesday released details of its green-car subsidy program designed to boost the nation's auto industry and cut vehicle emissions.Through the program, subsidies of up to 60,000 yuan (8,784 U.S. dollars) will be given to buyers of pure electric vehicles in the five cities chosen for the pilot program, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement on its website.Buyers of plug-in hybrid cars will receive up to 50,000 yuan in subsidies.The cities chosen for the pilot program are Shanghai, Changchun, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Hefei.China is the world's largest auto market.

SANAA, April 11 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese medical mission arrived Sunday in the southern Yemeni province of Aden as part of a cooperation agreement between the two countries, state-run Saba news agency reported.The 45-strong mission will provide medical services to residents of the southern provinces of Aden, Lahij, Abyan and Hadramout, according to the report.The mission includes neurosurgeons, plastic surgeons, thoracic surgeons, pediatric surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists and a number of administrative staff, Jamal Khadabish, director of the Aden-based al-Jomhoriya hospital, was quoted by Saba as saying.The mandate of the Chinese mission would last for one year in accordance with a protocol of health cooperation between Yemen and China, Khadabish noted.
