EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) – Two people died after being struck by an oncoming vehicle along I-8 Sunday morning.According to the California Highway Patrol, a single vehicle was involved in a crash on I-8 near El Cajon, California just before 1:30 a.m.Following the crash two good Samaritans stopped to help the man out of his vehicle.While the crash victim and one of the good Samaritans were talking on the side of the road, another vehicle failed to see both victims and struck them, according to CHP.Authorities say the investigation is ongoing but haven’t ruled out drugs or alcohol being factors in the crash. 624
DUBLIN, Calif. – Actress Lori Loughlin has surrendered herself to authorities to begin her two-month prison sentence for her involvement in the college admissions scam.NBC News and The Associated Press report that Loughlin reported to the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California, on Friday to be processed.The former “Full House” star showed up early. She wasn’t ordered to report to the San Francisco- area prison until Nov. 19, NBC News reports.Earlier this year, Loughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, pleaded guilty for paying 0,000 in bribes to cheat the college admissions process.It came to light in 2019 that the couple paid the money to get their two daughters into the University of Southern California as crew recruits, even though they aren’t rowers.Loughlin and Giannulli were among several people arrested in the case that was called “Operation Varsity Blues.”Loughlin was handed her two-month prison sentence in August, when a judge accepted her plea deal. (KGTV) - The San Diego Sheriff’s Office is investigating how several pounds of narcotics wound up magnetized to a man’s truck.A Mexican citizen who lives in Tijuana but works in El Cajon noticed a strange object in his fender Thursday morning and called authorities.Deputies found 4 packages containing roughly 5 pounds of narcotics hidden underneath the man’s pickup truck.The man’s next door neighbor informed them that they had seen men tampering with the victim’s truck overnight.“It’s our feeling that someone targeted this car because he could cross the border every day with the SENTRI pass and they were probably waiting to collect the narcotics later today,” said Sgt. Tim Chantler of the Sheriff’s office.Drivers with a SENTRI pass can travel in establishes dedicated commuter lanes to and cross the border faster after applying and being prescreened. Deputies are awaiting test results for the drugs but suspect either meth, heroin, or fentanyl.The driver is not considered a suspect as he called 911, according to authorities. “I would be checking my vehicle every day before I cross the border” said Sgt. During her Supreme Court confirmation hearing on Wednesday, Judge Amy Coney Barrett declined to give her legal opinion as to whether a President could pardon himself for crimes he may have committed while in office.Barrett's deferral came during a line of questioning by Senate Judiciary Committee member Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont. Leahy first asked Barrett if she believed that "nobody is above the law," including the President. (KGTV) — One firefighter was injured while battling a house fire in El Cajon Saturday.The first-alarm fire on Sycamore Lane broke out just before 12:30 p.m., according to Heartland Fire Department. One firefighter was injured during the battle and transported to a nearby hospital.Firefighters told 10News the fire may have started in the backyard, before spreading quickly to the home before it was put out. 433
