SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man accused of causing a flood which some tenants confused for a terrorist attack faced a judge Wednesday to enter his not guilty plea.A Deputy District Attorney argued that Francisco Morales is a danger to the community."He poses a great threat to the community as there are over 200 individuals, citizens in the community of Little Italy who cannot go home; they have essentially lost everything," she said.The judge agreed, and raised Morales' bail from 0,000 to ,000,000. Multiple witnesses said some residents were waist- or shoulder-deep in water as they tried to leave."It was like a waterfall coming down on you of water," tenant Ryan Lange said. "When I came down to the bottom floor there were people crying, we're trapped, we're trapped we can't get out!"Some residents said Morales sprayed them with fire hoses as they evacuated the building.Officers located Morales in the lobby and arrested him on suspicion of vandalism."It seemed like somebody was trying to kill everybody in there," Lange said the pain hasn't lessened over the past two days. "I feel like it's unlive-able; it smells like musty and moldy, looks like they're going to have to redo all the carpets and the drywall."Lange lives in one of the 45 units destroyed by the flood. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Minnesota man suspected of possessing child pornography may be in San Diego, according to the San Diego Police Department.Jamison Michael Nelson, 40, was the focus of a news release issued Monday to alert the public.San Diego Police did not release details about the charges, but information from DL-online.com indicated a man named Jamison Michael Nelson was charged with six felony counts of possessing pornographic works on a computer.The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received an alert from Google indicating that three images which may have been child pornography had been uploaded to a Gmail account, according to the report.DL-online.com reported that a search of Nelson’s residence turned up a hard drive hidden in a coffee pot.San Diego Police did not indicate why they believe Nelson may be in our area.He is white, six-feet tall, 185 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. 934

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A pair of North San Diego County residences may become the latest local site to receive a national historic place designation.The Boathouses in Encinitas will be considered at an Aug. 1 meeting by the California State Historical Resources Commission to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places.On 3rd Street, the pair of boathouses, known as the S.S. Moonlight and the S.S. Encinitas, sit blocks from the water but remain very much connected to 1920s life on the water. They were always intended to be homes and not actual vessels, but also meant to replicate the appearance and scale of boats at the time.Today, the homes represent what the California agency calls "an architecturally significant example of Fantasy-themed programmatic residential architecture." In short: Residential architecture meant to resemble something other than a traditional building.The boathouses were purchased by the Encinitas Preservation Association in 2008 and are currently rented out as private homes. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A portion of City Hall in Downtown San Diego was evacuated after crews working in the building possibly disturbed asbestos.According to the city, construction crews working on the lobby possibly disturbed the asbestos around 2 p.m. Thursday. The city said in a memo that a contractor working on the sprinkler system accidentally dislodged a section of the ceiling, causing it to crash to the ground. "Immediate action was taken to isolate and contain the material,'' according to the memo. The substance hasn’t yet been confirmed as asbestos, but hundreds of people were forced to evacuate as a precaution. Crews plan to conduct air testing Thursday night with the expectation of reopening City Hall Friday morning.
