SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The teen boy who was bitten by a shark last September in Encinitas threw the ceremonial first pitch at the Padres game Tuesday night.Keane Hayes, 14, was attacked by a shark while diving for lobsters off Beacon's beach. The shark managed to bite his left cheek, shoulder and chest.Hayes was an active athlete who was a pitcher for his baseball team, so he worried at the time whether or not he'd fully recover."I always thought, what if my arm isn’t the same? What if I’m not going to be able to throw?" said Hayes.But over the past nine months, he has been working hard with a physical therapist to get back to his former self."He’s come such a long way," said Jon Luu, the physical therapist who has been working with Keane."He’s always positive, always motivated to get better each and everyday," said Luu.While nervous, Hayes said he was excited to get up on the mound and show the crowd how far he had come.The pitch went straight over the plate. 978

Public health and safety measures are now in place at the office, allowing for business to resume.“The health of our employees and customers is our top priority, so we have made some changes to how we do business face-to-face. Experts and policy makers from both sides of the border shared their thoughts on what the new presidency will mean to the future of the relationship between the United States and Mexico."So much of what happens in Mexico doesn't stay in Mexico and so much of what happens in the United States happens along the U.S-Mexico border," said USD Professor David Shirk, who helped organize Thursday's forum.Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador will become the first person to lead Mexico from the political left in several decades after a landslide victory in July elections. He ran on a platform of populist reforms."He's traditionally been a strong supporter of the rights of migrants and respecting their human rights and caring for them," said Tony Wayne, who served as U.S. Ambassador to Mexico from 2011-2015 and attended Thursday's event. He's currently a Public Policy Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Institute."They're going to have to try to pick things up as quickly as they can. Nobody wants a repeat of the kind of incident that you had a few days ago at the border," Wayne said, referring to the clashes between Central American migrants and Border Patrol agents near the San Ysidro border crossing Sunday.Wayne and Shirk share some optimism that Mexico's new administration will be able to find common ground with President Trump, despite their differences on policy. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Thousands of people enjoyed San Diego County beaches, despite the ongoing Beach Hazard Warnings.The National Weather Service announced there would be high surf, high tides, and strong rip currents on the San Diego County coastline. This Beach Hazard Warning continues until Sunday. Whether you're playing, laying, or even working on this July 4th holiday, spending time at Mission Beach was a dream come true. Especially if you were the Newman family, escaping the Phoenix heat. "When we left, I think it was 114 degrees," Bryant Newman said. They said it just doesn't compare. "We used to hang out a lot at the resorts there locally [in Phoenix], but we have been coming to California for Fourth of July for the last for five or six years," Newman said.But let's not forget about the Beach Hazard Warnings, still in effect until Sunday. "They did warn us about high surf before I left the hotel this morning," visitor from LA, Saira Kinuthia said. Kinuthia is not letting her two boys out of sight. She said while they are here for fun, safety comes first. "We had our talk, and if the lifeguard says that we need to come out of the water, then we have to come out of the water," Kinuthia said. Also keeping a close eye, there was a large police presence along the beaches and boardwalk. While most of the patrols were for alcohol, officers were also regulating the new e-scooter rules that took place on July 1st. Riders must slow down to 8 miles per hour on the boardwalk. But 10News saw many people zooming by. One was an accident between a double-rider and an elderly gentleman, walking on the boardwalk. All parties were okay. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The University of San Diego is working to give a boost to those interested in getting a foot in the door of the ever-growing field of cybersecurity. To create the six-month program, USD partnered with a boot camp company to get people trained and employed in cybersecurity as soon as possible. The program springs out of a need for employees. According to a new economic report, the cybersecurity industry has a more than billion economic impact on San Diego, with a total of 19,660 jobs impacted. More than 150 cyber firms call San Diego home, according to the report. Of those, 75 percent expect to grow their cyber employment in the next 12 months. It's a challenging job market to find those people right now because it is such a high need across the board and across every industry,” said Andy Haass, Chief Engineer at Booz Allen Hamilton.
