SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a man died in Fallbrook late Friday night.Deputies responded to the 440 block of Ammunition Road around 10:40 p.m. to assist the North County Fire Department with an injured man.When deputies arrived, they found a man identified as Nicolas Ramirez suffering from an unknown traumatic injury.Ramirez was then taken to the hospital where he later died. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The San Diego Unified School District on Thursday released new information on the next phases of its plan to reopen schools for in-person learning.The first phase of the district’s plan, which began Oct. 13, included appointment-based, in-person instruction for elementary school students identified as having “the greatest needs.”The district is looking to expand Phase 1 to include grade 6-12 students and children in infant/toddler and early-learning programs.In a news release issued Thursday morning, the district outlined details on Phases 2-4. Officials noted that the timing of the phases will depend on the state's data/tier assignment update on Tuesday, Oct. 27.Expansion of Phase 1Expansion of Phase 1 appointment-based program for secondary students grades 6-12 and educators.Expansion of Phase 1 appointment-based program for infant/toddler and early-learning programs and educators.Phase 2Elementary (PreK to 5th grade) students would return to campus four days a week. Students would be split into two cohorts for either an a.m. session or p.m. session in order to safely rotate students into classrooms. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Starlight Bowl in Balboa Park is facing a setback after thieves broke into the theater.According to San Diego Police, an unknown suspect or suspects forced their way into the building between Oct. 17 and 19. The thieves ransacked two separate, secured structures on the property.A number of high-end television production systems, autographed guitars, studio cameras, and other items were stolen. “The doors were physically broken down,” said Steve Stopper, founder of Save Starlight. “There’s been a lot of vandalism and theft and they had to have been here a long, long time.”Stopper said his foundation has been working for five years to bring life back to the theater that closed down in 2012. The City of San Diego has offered support to his organization.Repairs were being completed after a tree came crashing down on the Starlight Bowl months ago, lifting asphalt in the parking lot and crushing part of the building.“This is definitely kicking us back to almost a starting point again,” said Stopper.Security cameras and alarms were turned off as repairs to the building were underway.Stopper said the items stolen were worth well over ,000. Many, including the autographed guitars, were set to be auctioned off at a gala next year in an effort to raise money for the revitalization project.“We need someone to step up and help us,” said Stopper. “We need new options for the future.
