BEIJING, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislator Li Zhanshu on Tuesday held video talks with Tadamori Oshima, speaker of the House of Representatives of the Japanese parliament, calling for a China-Japan relationship consistent with the needs of the new era.
He called for efforts to continue fostering a system of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics, and actively advance legislation in key areas including national security, scientific and technological innovation, public health, bio-safety and ecological civilization.
Openness will be stepped up in areas including trade in goods, trade in services, investment and flow of natural persons, and higher standards will be applied in terms of trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, intellectual property rights protection, trade remedy, e-commerce, government procurement, small and medium-sized enterprises, and economic and technical cooperation.
Xi also stressed that the cause of poverty reduction is facing severe challenges as the COVID-19 pandemic is raging across the world.
He said Xi's letter expounded the historical process, great achievements and international contribution of the efforts made by the CPC and the Chinese government in poverty alleviation.
