In remembering former President George H.W. Bush, the Secret Service tweeted out a touching message Tuesday. According to the agency, Bush once shaved his head to support a Secret Service agent’s son who’d been diagnosed with leukemia. According to the agency, the security detail all planned to shave their heads to show support for the 2-year-old diagnosed with the cancer. INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — More than 150 names were read during a vigil Wednesday evening and family and friends gathered at the Indiana event to light a candle for each one. Each name was someone who was the victim of gun violence over the past year. Deandra Yates organized the vigil. She works with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and founded Purpose for My Pain, a support group of families of victims of violence. "We need better gun legislation. We need to make sure that families that have at-risk youth are supported and have resources for mentoring and different programming for their kids,"  Yates said. Yates says she's encouraged by the million grant that Indianapolis has received from the Trump Administration to fight gun violence. IMPD will receive 0,000 of that grant to hire three crime analysts for the city to help sniff out leads before crime happens. Those analysts will process shell casings and guns used in crimes to see if they were used in other crimes in the city. The hope is that the police can connect the crimes and get the ones responsible off the street. Another focus for those analysts will be on social media, tracking what criminals are sharing and talking about online.The other 0,000 from the grant will go to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office to handle all of the gun violence cases. 1399

Isaias re-intensified into a Category 1 hurricane Monday evening shortly before approached the Carolina coast with top winds of 85 MPH, as of 9 p.m. ET.The National Hurricane Center said Isaias came ashore late Monday near Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, as a minimal hurricane. Top observed wind gusts were found in Oak Island, North Carolina, at 87 MPH. Hurricane warnings are in effect for parts of the Carolina coast around the North Carolina/South Carolina border.The National Hurricane Center said it expects Isaias to pack hurricane-force winds over a small area of the coast, but much of the East Coast should be preparing for tropical storm conditions.Tropical storm warnings extend from South Carolina all the way to Maine. Major cities, including Baltimore, Washington DC, New York and Boston will likely see tropical storm conditions on Tuesday.Given the storm’s path, the hurricane could place a huge burden on the nation’s electric grid. The Edison Electric Institute said that crews are being sent to the coast to help with the response.“Preparing for major events like Isaias requires significant coordination among the public and private sectors,” the organization said. “Strong industry-government coordination and cross-sector collaboration are critical. INDIANAPOLIS -- Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a 1-year-old Indianapolis girl.The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department tweeted the news about the arrest Wednesday morning. Darrin Banks, 27, and Brian Palmer, 29, were arrested for their involvement in the shooting. Malaysia Robson was killed when gunfire struck her home on the 3500 block of Wittfield Avenue on March 30.  445
