(KGTV) -- A strong warning from the mother of a La Jolla teenager injured in a deadly car crash on the way to Coachella.10News spoke with Eva Cerciello at the hospital where her daughter is recovering. Doctors have taken out her feeding tube and she is now awake.Sadly, her cousin was killed in the crash while the driver walked away with minor injuries. Cerciello says she’s been relying on prayers and positive thinking for strength.As more San Diegans head to Indio for weekend two of the Coachella music festival,Cerciello has a harsh warning that they shouldn’t put themselves in danger.She nearly lost her daughter last week. “She's like a miracle,” Cerciello said. Manuela Cerciello-Rahbari, 16, suffered severe brain damage when the BMW she was in with her cousin and a friend who was driving veered off the road.They slammed into two trees on I-10, 40 miles away from the festival. “Their main goal was to be there at 7 a.m.,” Cerciello said.They left around 3 a.m., but never made it. “The driver fell asleep while driving. They were both asleep, my niece and my daughter,” she said.Cerciello says she even called to warn them. “If you're tired, you need to stop. You don't keep on going,” she said. “You can’t challenge your body.”Their car was part of a caravan with friends and Cerciello feels peer pressure played a deadly role. “I know the kids were texting ‘speed up, speed up’ because we have all the messages.” Now, she's passing along her own message to other parents and their children.“Parents, they think ‘Don't drink. Don't drive. Don't do drugs…and everything will be fine.’ No, not everything will be fine,” Cerciello said.To be clear.. no drugs or alcohol were involved the crash, but she just wants people to see the reality of poor-decision making-- and says be smart.“You will never have the same life again. Never. Never. Because even if physically you are ok, psychologically you will never be the same.”While Cerciello knows her daughter's future is unclear... “I need to be strong. If I'm not strong, who's gonna be strong?”She doesn't want anyone else to experience her pain. "[If] I can help even one person, I’m good with that.” It’s is an eerily familiar situation for Cerciello.Four and half years ago, her son, Carlo, was also in a major accident and suffered brain damage.He is still in physical therapy today.In the meantime, the family has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for medical expenses as well as research for brain injuries. (KGTV) - A San Diego father who lost his daughter after she was hit by shrapnel from an exploding airbag spoke to Team 10 about the latest death connected to these faulty devices.The latest death occurred in June, according to a statement released by Honda, which made the car involved in the crash. The driver, Armando Vargas Ortega, was hit by shrapnel from the airbag when a 2002 Honda Civic crashed at an intersection, a Honda spokesman said. The death occurred a few days later.Alexander Brangman understands their pain. On Sept. 7, 2014, his daughter Jewel Brangman rear-ended a van in her rental car on a freeway in Los Angeles. Four vehicles were involved. Everyone walked away from the crash, except her.Alexander Brangman said shrapnel pierced her neck. (KGTV) - California residents are feeling the crunch of rising home costs, so much so that many have considered moving out of the state, according to a poll from UC Berkeley.A new study from the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies revealed about 48 percent of California voters described housing affordability as an "extremely serious" problem in their area, with 36 percent saying it's "somewhat serious."RELATED: San Diego's housing crisis prompts M trust fund for affordable housingPerhaps more alarming, the issue has caused about 56 percent of voters to consider moving from their area, a quarter of those respondents saying they would likely leave the state. (KGTV) — Disneyland's "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" expansion will host the park's most complex attraction ever — and possibly at any theme park.During Star Wars Celebration this weekend in Chicago, Disney's Imagineering team dished on "Galaxy's Edge" attractions and the creation of the land. Part of that came a few tidbits regarding the second highly-anticipated ride coming this year: "Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance."RELATED: The rides, foods, toys you'll get to enjoy at Disneyland's 'Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge'"This is the biggest attraction we’ve ever built," Scott Trowbridge, Portfolio Creative Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering, said during the presentation. That’s why we’re going big with this attraction."A trailer teasing the attraction was played for the Chicago audience showing various scenes from "Rise of the Resistance," images Trowbridge said were captured directly from inside the attraction.“It is the biggest, it is one of the most complex attraction experiences that we or anyone else has ever built," Trowbridge said.RELATED: Disney's Star Wars land: The good, the bad — and no Fast Passes?"Rise of the Resistance" pits riders smack dab inside a First Order Star Destroyer, as they try to escape a fleet of Stormtroopers and Kylo Ren himself. There are even life-size recreations of Poe Dameron's X-Wing and A-Wing fighters and TIE fighters.Imagineers also revealed custom bottles of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite and Dasani coming to the "Star Wars" land, fashioned into a droid-like shape and covered in Aurebesh, a fictional language used in the film franchise.
