SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A judge has ordered a man charged with attacking and stabbing two women to stand trial. A preliminary hearing was held Tuesday for Patrick Douglas, 51.Douglas is charged with two counts of attempted murder in connection with two stabbings in El Cajon and La Mesa on the same day.Police in La Mesa said a female Frito Lay delivery driver, later identified as 35-year-old Dina Hammond, staggered into a 7-Eleven where she had just made a delivery after being stabbed several times.RELATED: Pursuit suspect arrested for pair of stabbings in La Mesa, El Cajon?Hammond was rushed to the hospital in stable condition following the stabbing.Shortly after, Police in El Cajon received a call after a woman was found with stab wounds at a strip mall. The woman, later identified as Shawntey Palmer, was also in stable condition after being taken to the hospital.After the stabbings, Douglas led police on a chase after a Mercedes-Benz matching the description of his car was spotted.During the pursuit, Douglas reached speeds of more than 100 miles-per-hour before the car was found abandoned.Douglas was eventually located and arrested. 1161

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man is searching for the good Samaritan who pulled him from a rip current in La Jolla this week.Patrick Fitzpatrick was swimming at Windansea Beach Tuesday."It took a snap second before I was in control to completely out of control," Fitzpatrick recalled, after becoming caught in a rip current. "There was no way on Earth that I was going to live from this. I was in a panic. I couldn't use my arms and legs now."Someone on shore, only known as "Dustin," noticed Fitzpatrick struggling and swam out to help him."He's a guardian angel. He owe him my life, he saved my life," Fitzpatrick says.Dustin swam out and kept Fitzpatrick calm before more help could arrive and get him to shore.Fitzpatrick is hoping to reunite with his mystery rescuer to say thank you."The humanity that comes from an act of kindness like this, from a perfect stranger," Fitzpatrick said. 892

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man accused of causing a flood which some tenants confused for a terrorist attack faced a judge Wednesday to enter his not guilty plea.A Deputy District Attorney argued that Francisco Morales is a danger to the community."He poses a great threat to the community as there are over 200 individuals, citizens in the community of Little Italy who cannot go home; they have essentially lost everything," she said.The judge agreed, and raised Morales' bail from 0,000 to ,000,000. Morales faces 45 counts of felony vandalism and 5 counts of assault intended to cause great bodily injury.Several residents were forced to flee from their Little Italy apartment complex Monday morning after police said Morales opened pipes and used a fire hose to flood all eight floors of the building.Water from the hose and pipes made its way down to all floors, including the basement, according to authorities. Multiple witnesses said some residents were waist- or shoulder-deep in water as they tried to leave."It was like a waterfall coming down on you of water," tenant Ryan Lange said. "When I came down to the bottom floor there were people crying, we're trapped, we're trapped we can't get out!"Some residents said Morales sprayed them with fire hoses as they evacuated the building.Officers located Morales in the lobby and arrested him on suspicion of vandalism."It seemed like somebody was trying to kill everybody in there," Lange said the pain hasn't lessened over the past two days. "I feel like it's unlive-able; it smells like musty and moldy, looks like they're going to have to redo all the carpets and the drywall."Lange lives in one of the 45 units destroyed by the flood. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A new court program in San Diego Juvenile Hall will help victims of sex trafficking find their way out of forced slavery.The RISE Court (Resiliency is Strength, Empowerment) will work with as many as 40 kids who have been victims in sex trafficking, giving them help to put their lives back together."We don't view them as an object to be used and abused," says District Attorney Summer Stephan. "We see them as whole human beings who need to be free to thrive in society."Many of the kids come to the court because they commit other crimes as part of their role in the sex trade. After they go through the criminal system, they fall right back into human trafficking because they have nowhere else to go. Sometimes, it's their pimp who is waiting to pick them up outside of Juvenile Hall .The court will work to find the underlying cause that drove the kids into human trafficking in the first place, and help them break the cycle."Some of them don't recognize themselves as victims or they don't see it as a problem or they don't think it's a big deal that they're involved in certain activities because they think it's normal," says Judge Carolyn Caietti, who will oversee the courtroom.Human sex trafficking is San Diego's 2nd largest underground economy, behind drug sales. She realized there was a need.“Women were out in the marketplace, but they weren't managing the money, and sadly, often nobody was.”Wall and financial planner Candace Bahr launched the Women’s Institute for Financial Education (WIFE), a nonprofit to give women the tools to start making a difference.“We didn't have anything to sell anybody.
