SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – More drive-in entertainment is coming to Escondido’s Westfield North County mall as summer comes to a close.In August, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido (CCAE) hosted several drive-in live concerts at the former Nordstrom parking lot at the mall on 272 E Via Rancho Parkway.From September through November, the same mall parking lot will be the site for weekly drive-in movie screenings. Spaces for more than 250 vehicles will be made available and spaced apart to keep moviegoers safely distanced.Doors for the screenings will open at 6:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-serve basis. San Diego (KGTV) -- North County parents and students are voicing safety concerns after the Vista school board voted 3-2 not to restore law enforcement at school sites next year. The Vista Unified School District made its decision early Friday morning despite backlash from some parents."We seem to need constant reminders so we've had Columbine, Parkland, Sandy Hook, and on a day we're pleading for safety another tragedy hits," one parent told 10News.The parent was referring to Thursday's shooting at Saugus High School just north of Los Angeles. A student gunned down a group of teens on campus killing a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- New details are emerging after an infant was attacked by a pit bull in Logan Heights Monday night.Family members now say the dog broke free of its leash before running to the infant’s bouncy chair. The pit bull was reportedly startled by the chair, leading to the attack.8-week-old Jema Gonzales is said to be in serious condition and has so far had one surgery.RELATED: Baby severely injured by pit bull bite in Logan HeightsThe incident happened on Irving Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Monday. After the attack, paramedics took Jema to the hospital with lacerations to the face and possibly a punctured eye. Witnesses originally said the dog licked then bit Jema’s face. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police responded Monday after a vehicle crashed into a Chick-fil-A in Mira Mesa.The crash happened on the 10700 block of Camino Ruiz near Mira Mesa Community Park. Authorities say no one was injured.Due to the crash, the inside of the restaurant was closed for the day as a structural engineer inspected the damage. Authorities haven't said what caused the crash.  407

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police are investigating the murder of a man stabbed in the chest during a fight in San Diego's Southcrest neighborhood.San Diego Police homicide detectives were called to the 3400 block of Newton Avenue Wednesday just before 11:30 a.m., near Interstate 15 and just a block away from Emerson/Bandini Elementary School. Police said they found a man stabbed in the chest at least once, following a fight at a homeless encampment under I-15.The man died at UCSD Medical Center.Police said they have the suspect accused of the murder in custody after several homeless people who witnessed the fight helped police track the suspect down at a nearby park.Police have identified the victim but are not releasing his name. The suspect was only identified as a 30-year-old man by police. 865
