TEMPE, Ariz. — An Arizona woman said a man posing as a Lyft driver tried luring her into his car. Around 9 p.m. Saturday, Bradie Trippi was waiting to be picked up in a parking lot in Tempe, Arizona. The Lyft app showed her driver was a minute away when a man in a gold Infiniti sedan pulled up next to her, she said. “He says, ‘I’m your Lyft’ and then took a phone, flashed it in my face,” Trippi told KNXV. She said the man showed her the passenger app — not the driver app — and the letter “f” of the “Lyft” emblem on his car was backward. Given the fact the man did not match the photo of her driver or description of her driver’s car, Trippi declined to get in the car. “He got aggressive,” she said. “Told me to get in the car, he’s gonna kill me, called me the ‘b word’, started yelling the ‘f word’ at me — I got kind of scared.”When her actual Lyft driver arrived, Trippi said the man sped off. Lyft and Uber spokespeople told KNXV that passengers should always check to make sure the photo of their driver, description of the vehicle and license plate match up before getting inside. Passengers should ask open-ended questions to their driver, like “who are you here to pick up?” Instead of “Are you here to pick up [name]?”Trippi and her actual Lyft driver described the imposter driver as a bald, African-American man with an accent. STUART, Fla. - A Martin County woman is turning 90 years old this week and got a huge surprise to help her celebrate the milestone.She has some of the best stories you'll hear, and her impact on the community makes her a treasured part of Martin County's history.Evelyn Deggeller thought she was going to a formal event at a SkyBlue Jet Aviation hangar at Witham Field Thursday, but her friend, Suzanne Deuser, had a big surprise planned.Deggeller, who once owned a plane and has a pilot's license, was treated to an hour-long flight from SkyBlue Jet Aviation to Jupiter and back.When she landed, a brass band was waiting for her, along with friends, family and city and county leaders."This is all for you," Deuser told Deggeller. "I sure did not expect this," Deggeller said.Deggeller has lived a story-book worthy life that has been centered around bringing other people joy.She and her father performed magic as a traveling duo across the country. WPTV Evelyn Deggeller of Stuart used to travel across the U.S. performing magic with her father and owned exotic animals. "I did what they call stage magic. No cards, nothing up close. It was all big pieces that were on stage," Deggeller said.She recalled pulling live rabbits out of hats."The best thing I do now is making money disappear," she laughed.She owned a chimpanzee and an elephant named Dixie, who gave her a lot of laughs. One time, she said Dixie was caught eating the neighbor's flowers. She could grab Dixie by the ear and walk her home.But her local claim to fame came in 1959 when she helped re-start the Martin County fair."The fair had been on before, but the war came, and everything was changed. After the war, they wanted to start up again," Deggeller said.She was just the woman to do it.Deggeller built a career supplying county and state fairs with rides and attractions and food stands.She has also been a part of charitable service organizations in Stuart, including Soroptimist International of Stuart.She holds keys to numerous cities, and Stuart Vice Mayor Eula Clarke presented her Thursday with Stuart's key to the city."I've enjoyed everything that I've been fortunate enough to do," Deggeller said.The celebration was just one more memory to take with her into her next decade."I'm shooting for 100. SunTrust says a former employee may have tried to print information on about 1.5 million customers and share it with a "criminal third party."Chairman and CEO William Rogers Jr. made the announcement Friday as the regional bank released its quarterly earnings.Rogers said the bank believes the information included names and account balances, but not Social Security numbers, account numbers or passwords. He also said the bank has not identified "significant fraudulent activity" on the accounts.Rogers said this was discovered "in conjunction with law enforcement." He did not identify or elaborate on the criminal third party.SunTrust is the 12th-largest US commercial bank by assets, according to the Federal Reserve. The Australian refugee deal that US President Donald Trump once derided as "stupid" and "horrible" is happening.The first group of refugees being held at Australian offshore detention centers on Nauru and Papua New Guinea's Manus Island will leave for the US in the "coming weeks," the Australian government has confirmed in a statement."There will be about 25 (refugees) from both Manus and Nauru, will be going to the United States and I just want to thank again President Trump for continuing with that arrangement," Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull?said in an interview with CNN's Australia affiliate Seven News.Under the terms of the arrangement, refugees selected by the Australian authorities for resettlement in the US are not guaranteed entry into the country. They must first pass a strict vetting process -- which can take months.An official at the US State Department told CNN on Wednesday that to date, they have determined one individual meets resettlement requirements and will be moved in "the coming weeks." The official said he expects the first batch of approved refugees to be notified within days."We expect refugees to travel to the United States in the coming weeks," the official said.Trump made it clear to Turnbull he was not a fan of the deal during their first phone call following Trump's inauguration in January, details of which were later revealed in a?leaked transcript?published by the Washington Post in August."I am the world's greatest person that does not want to let people into the country. The birthday party for a 5-year-old Davenport, Iowa boy turned into one he’ll never forget when several officers from the Davenport Police Department accepted his invitation to attend.Jackie Martin took to Facebook to share the story of her son, Brayden, and his love for police officers. According to Martin, he loves everything about them, so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise when Brayden decided he wanted to have a police officer-themed birthday party this year.Brayden personally delivered invitations to the police station in hopes of getting to see a squad car.But what he got in return was so much more.Over the course of the day, seven different officers made their way to Brayden’s party. Detective Donnie Pridemore even brought a pin-on badge with him and Brayden was pinned an official junior officer of the Davenport Police Department.“They went above and beyond to make my son feel like part of the team and really made today so special and allowed us the opportunity to continue to show Brayden the importance of respecting the law and those who uphold it,” said Martin, “they may not wear capes but today, they were definitely the heroes.”Check out the full post from Jackie: 1206
