The National Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane watch for sections of the Gulf Coast as Louisiana and Texas prepares for a second tropical system this week.Tropical Storm Laura, which had top winds of 65 MPH as of 11 p.m. ET Monday, is expected to turn into the Gulf of Mexico and strengthen into a hurricane. The potential hurricane is expected to hit either the Texas or Louisiana coast late Wednesday.A hurricane watch is in effect from Port Bolivar, Texas, to west of Morgan City, Louisiana. A tropical storm watch is in effect from south of Port Bolivar, Texas, to San Luis Pass, Texas, and from Morgan City, Louisiana to the Mouth of the Mississippi River.As of Monday morning, Laura was dumping heavy rain on both Cuba and Jamaica. According to the National Hurricane Center, the storms could cause mudslides and urban flash floods on the islands.Laura has already caused the deaths of at least 11 people in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, while knocking out power and causing flooding Sunday.Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Marco, made landfall along the Louisiana coast Monday evening, according to the National Hurricane Center, as a minimal tropical storm. It weakened from hurricane all the way to a depression on Monday. All tropical storm warnings have been dropped in associated with Marco.Marco was recording maximum sustained winds of 35 mph as of late Monday evening. The name change for Boy Scouts of America is creating a buzz online as people react the organization's recent move to become more inclusive.They will begin calling the program for ages 11 to 17 "Scouts BSA."It was a historic decision for Boy Scouts of America as they take the next step towards allowing females into all their programs with their focus on bringing families together in one spot. It's all a part of the new "Scout Me In"?recruitment campaign, uniting girls and boys of the same family with one organization."Having Johnny in Scouts and Sally in soccer or some other activities — if they can go and do things together as a family unit, that's what families are looking for from the research we have," says Chris Mehaffey, scout executive and CEO of the Mid-America Council. And so the move was made today, switching the Boy Scouts program to Scouts BSA with the hopes that the new name will make girls feel comfortable joining the program geared towards 11-18 year olds.Still Mehaffey believes the name switch won't make a huge difference in girls joining the scouts. "I think those that are interested in our program will come anyway, this just shows that we are being more inclusive to what demographics we'll be serving."As for the Girl Scouts, they're remaining focused on creating programs for girls, and only girls. "So it's not changing the way we deliver our mission and programs. We're going to continue to do what girls asked us to do and provide for their changing needs," says Melissa Breazile, marketing director of Girl Scouts of Nebraska.And if girls desire, Mehaffey says girls can choose to join both organizations. "You don't have to choose. Girl Scouts meet on different nights, Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA meet on different nights, if you're interested in both if parents will allow, do both."Now this switch only affects the Boy Scout program. The race for the White House has reached its final week, and millions of Americans have already gone to the polls to cast a ballot in the 2020 presidential election.On Wednesday, a number of national and state polls were released. In general, Joe Biden is leading Donald Trump in national polls, but battleground polls show a tightening race. A CNN poll of likely voters released Wednesday afternoon showed Biden leading Trump 54-42 in the popular vote, which is slightly tighter than the 57-41 advantage the CNN poll had for Biden in early October.Another poll, one conducted by the Economist/YouGov, showed Biden leading by 11%. Emerson released its poll on Wednesday showing Biden with a 5% edge. But one poll, the Rasmussen poll, shows Trump actually ahead nationally by 1%. Polls by Rasmussen have generally been more favorable than other national polls.One national poll released on Tuesday, conducted by CNBC, had Biden up 51-40.State pollingNo matter the margin of the popular vote, the number that matters the most is reaching 270 Electoral College votes. And in that respect, Biden is leading in the polls, but his leads in battleground states is much more fragile than his standing in the national polls.In Wisconsin, a poll released on Wednesday by Marquette gave Biden a 48-43 edge. Clinton won the state by 2%.What is conclusive in pollingWhile predicting a winner in the presidential election might be a challenge based on polls, they can give an insight on what voters are thinking.One clear difference in the polls is based on gender. Wednesday’s CNN poll gave Biden a 61-37 lead among women, while Trump won with men 48-47.
