WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court is rejecting an appeal from environmental groups trying to stop President Donald Trump from building a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, even as other legal action against the wall is ongoing.The justices on Monday left in place a ruling by a federal judge in San Diego who rejected challenges claiming that the Trump administration improperly waived laws requiring environmental and other reviews before construction can begin.The judge in the San Diego case was Gonzalo Curiel. We hear it all the time--save the bees! Well, one Colorado woman has come up with an idea that could do just that.Danielle Bilot, an instructor at the University of Colorado Boulder, created the Forgotten Hive project. The initiative aims to transform parts of parking lot spaces into rest stops for bees.“These native bees, some of them can only fly about three blocks before they need more food,” explains Bilot. “And, so, if we don't have a frequent enough system, they're going to potentially die trying to get to the next big park space.”Bilot, with the help of students involved in the project, added nearly two dozen different plants at the edge of one parking lot in Boulder. The new plants, which replaced shrubs, will hopefully give bees a place to get food year-round.Bilot says there are more than 3,600 native bee species around the country, and they're not just cool to look at.“They are more efficient pollinators for crops than the honeybees we often think of,” says Bilot.Bilot visits the lot at least once a week to observe the bees and to take note of how they’re responding to the plants.“If some of them aren't attracting native bees, and we're not catching them on them, we won't plant them in the next lot,” Bilot says.The instructor hopes to spread the word and to spread hives to parking lots around her city, the country and the world.“We're looking at a large amount of urban land that can be converted into productive green space for a variety of benefits,” says Bilot. “What city wouldn't want to do that?” 1548

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KGTV) - San Diego Congressman Duncan Hunter showed Wednesday video and photographs at the center of a Navy SEAL war crimes investigation to members of Congress. Chief Eddie Gallagher is accused of murdering an ISIS soldier and shooting Iraqi civilians in 2017. Prosecutors say Gallagher killed the unarmed Islamic State prisoner, and tried to kill an elderly man and a 12-year-old girl. Gallagher was arrested on war crimes charges last fall. “I think Eddie needs his day in court,” Hunter said after a Capitol Hill meeting Tuesday. “This is the smoking gun and there’s no gun whatsoever,” Hunter said. Hunter said he shared video indicated the ISIS soldier was injured in the U.S. government bombing of a building and interrogated by the Iraqi military before being turned over to Navy SEALS. Gallagher performed first aid on the ISIS soldier, one of the representatives said. “I don’t trust the Navy to give him a fair trial. With all the focus on this case, he stands more of a chance of getting a fair trial now than he would have if we had not brought to light what I think are all the injustices against him to this point,” said Hunter.
