PETERSBURG, Fla. — A toddler lovingly known as the "Baby Shark Girl" is making big strides.When WFTS first met Harper Mae Comparin, the then-2-year-old girl born with spina bifida was learning how to walk via a very unique method: the "Baby Shark" song.Her physical therapist at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital used the syncopation of the love-it-or-hate-it kids jingle to get Harper Mae to move. And it worked.Now, a year and a half later, her team of medical workers and family members continue to use inventive methods to help her deal with complications related to the birth defect in which the spinal cord fails to develop properly.She needed therapy to walk and to talk.Physical therapist assistant Nick Hamilton, who works at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, recently helped Harper Mae when she was scared of getting her leg cast sawed off."I'm a big kid, so I fit right in here," Hamilton said.So, he improvised. He made a cast for Harper Mae's Elsa doll. And it worked."Having her baby doll that she carries with her everywhere get a cast just like hers has helped her feel better about it," said mom Erica Comparin.Hamilton says a big part of Harper Mae's therapy is "improvisation." Sheriff's deputies in California were conducting an area check Wednesday when they came upon a large, rectangular box made of plywood -- and found three children living near mounds of trash and human feces.The box was on a property that had neither running water nor electricity and was surrounded by large holes, police said. There were also 30 to 40 cats inside a travel trailer and roaming freely, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said.Police said deputies found that three children -- age 11, 13 and 14 -- had been living in the large plywood box for about four years. The box measured about 20 feet long, 4 feet high and 10 feet wide. The children, police said, were found with "an inadequate amount of food and were living in an unsuitable and unsafe environment." Children and Family Service responded and took custody of the children.The parents, Mona Kirk, 51, and Daniel Panico, 73, were arrested on charges of willful cruelty to a child. Their bail was set at 0,000. It is not clear whether the couple has an attorney or when they will appear in court.Cindy Bachman, San Bernardino Sheriff spokeswoman, said Panico was living in the trailer while Kirk was living in the box with the three children.Bachman said the children did not require any medical attention and deputies were not aware of any other abuse.San Bernardino County Capt. (KGTV) - A beloved monitor lizard that slinked away from an East County pet store has been found."Bubbles," a six-year-old black-throated monitor lizard, disappeared from Mike's Pets in Spring Valley on Sunday, according to the store's owner Mike Estevez.Security camera footage inside the store captured Bubbles slip away out a back door and the cage propped against the open entrance.RELATED: Beloved lizard missing from Spring Valley pet storeEstevez told 10News that Bubbles was found Thursday by a volunteer searcher from Los Angeles. The five-and-a-half foot, 35-pound lizard was hiding in brush near the pet store.The area had been searched at least 10 times, according to Estevez, but was likely sleeping, camouflaged in the brush, or climbed out of sight.Bubbles was a little dehydrated and hungry when found but was quickly fed, Estevez said.10News reporter Michael Chen visited Mike's Pets after news of Bubble's return:The lizard's time on the lam inspired a Twitter account dedicated to the lizard. 1096
