(KGTV) One person is dead after being partially sucked out of the window of an airplane.Southwest Flight 1380 was forced to make an emergency landing after engine failure following takeoff from New York. The plane was headed for Dallas.Witnesses say the engine exploded, shattering one of the windows and a female passenger was nearly sucked out of the plane at 32,000 feet.The captain was able to safely land the plane in Philadelphia where 148 people were able to walk off the plane, but the injured female passenger was transported to a local hospital and died later, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.Jennifer Riordan, a Wells Fargo bank executive from New Mexico, is the only fatality from the incident.RELATED: 1 dead after plane makes emergency landing in PhiladelphiaThe NTSB says Riordan is the first U.S. airline death since 2009.Southwest Airlines CEO says the company is fully cooperating with the NTSB in the investigation More than 38% of passengers fly Southwest Airlines out of Lindbergh Field, according to the San Diego Airport Authority. 1099

A 7-year-old Guatemalan girl died last week, hours after she was taken into Border Patrol custody, the Department of Homeland Security said.The Washington Post first reported Thursday that the girl died of dehydration and septic shock last week in El Paso, Texas after she was taken into custody by Border Patrol after crossing illegally with her father into the United States."Our sincerest condolences go out to the family of the child," the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees Border Patrol, said in a statement."Border Patrol agents took every possible step to save the child's life under the most trying of circumstances. As fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, we empathize with the loss of any child."The girl and her father were part of a large group of migrants who approached Border Patrol agents in a remote area of the New Mexico desert last Thursday, the newspaper reported, citing US Customs and Border Protection records.The child began having seizures hours after she was taken into custody and was airlifted to the Providence Children's Hospital in El Paso, CBP told the Post. 1119

(WXYZ) — Nearly 100,000 children tested positive for COVID-19 in the last two weeks of July, according to a new report from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children’s Hospital Association.According to the report, 97,078 kids tested positive for coronavirus between July 16 and July 30, which is nearly 1/3 of the total confirmed cases of children in the U.S. since the beginning of the pandemic.The report found that around 338,000 children tested positive for coronavirus since the pandemic began. Over the last two weeks of July, the number of positive tests increased 40%.According to the report, the academy looked at state numbers that were considered children. The age ranges vary by state, and in Michigan, it includes anyone 19 and younger, but the state recently started reporting age groups 0-9 and 10-19. (KGTV) — Thousands of acres have burned and evacuations have been ordered for surrounding cabins as the Holy Fire rages in Orange County.The fire broke out near Holy Jim Canyon and Trabuco Creek roads Monday at about 1:30 p.m. Since then, it has exploded in size, reach thousands of acres by the next day.Multiple fire agencies responded to battle the fire and contain it to the forest land, away from communities around Cleveland National Forest.RELATED:  479
