BEIJING, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- China values its friendly ties with Cuba and is willing to work with Cuba to push bilateral relationship to a new height, Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang said on Thursday.   Li made the remarks when meeting with Jose Ramon Fernandez Alvarez, vice president of the Cuban Council of Ministers, here on Thursday.     Li said Sino-Cuban relations were at a new stage of development, as the two countries had maintained frequent high-level contact and increased economic cooperation and consultation in international affairs. BEIJING, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Along with more than 3,000 teachers and students, Premier Wen Jiabao attended the opening of a temporary middle school in southwest China's quake zone as the new semester started on Monday.     Beichuan Middle School was among the hardest-hit schools in the May 12 earthquake. Wen visited students and teachers at the school three times prior to the Monday event. MIANYANG, Sichuan Province, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Saturday visited with some earthquake survivors who had resettled in public camps in Sichuan Province's Mianyang City.     For refugees staying in low-lying lands in the southwest Chinese province, they were also at threat from the huge "quake lakes" bursting their banks.     The 8.0-magnitude tremor on May 12, which had claimed at least 69,134 lives to date, had created the threatening 200 million cubic meter Tangjiashan quake lake which overlooks Mianyang, about 70 meters above the city.     The local government is currently relocating more than 210,000 people to safer grounds.     In his third visit to the province since the quake, Wen said ina camp harboring hundreds of the quake homeless, "I hope you would understand our efforts to resettle you away from your home to a relatively safe place because the swelling quake lake is so dangerous."     "Yes, we understand," the locals replied. BEIJING, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- The latest tests found that Chinese liquid dairy products met the new temporary restrictions on melamine, the country's top quality control agency said on Saturday.     It was the ninth investigation on the industrial chemical following the tainted baby formula scandal that killed at least three infants and sickened more than 50,000 others, according to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).     The latest tests covered 532 batches of liquid milk, including yogurt, from 69 brands in 23 major cities nationwide, the agency said.     At present, 4,213 batches of liquid dairy products from 131 brands produced after Sept. 14 were tested and all in line with the limit, it added.     Melamine, often used in the manufacturing of plastics, was added to sub-standard or diluted milk to make the protein levels appear higher.     China on Wednesday set temporary limits on melamine content in dairy products. The limits were a maximum of 1 mg of melamine per kg of infant formula and a maximum 2.5 mg per kg for liquid milk, milk powder and food products containing at least 15 percent milk.     The State Council, or Cabinet, issued a series of quality control regulations for dairy products on Thursday.     The regulations tighten control of how milk-yielding animals are bred, how raw milk is purchased and the production and sales of dairy food.     They promised more severe punishment for people who violated safety standards and quality control departments that failed to fulfil their duties.
