COACHELLA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The woman arrested for dumping puppies in a trash can in Coachella was sentenced to a year in jail, according to KABC. Deborah Sue Culwell, 59, pleaded guilty to animal cruelty and abandonment charges. Culwell was arrested after surveillance video captured a white jeep pull up behind a store on the 49000 block of Grapefruit Boulevard as a woman exited with a plastic bag. COCKEYSVILLE, Md. — A Maryland man is facing more than two dozen criminal charges after stealing a dump truck while drunk and on drugs, fleeing from police, and killing a man during the chase.The incident reportedly began about 2 p.m. Monday when Baltimore City Police contacted Maryland State Police about a stolen dump truck headed northbound on I-83.Troopers eventually located the truck, owned by a roofing company, unoccupied in a Walmart parking lot in Cockeysville, Maryland. Police say they set up surveillance to see who had stolen the tuck. A man, later identified as 26-year-old Zackery Haeger, was later seen getting into the truck, at which time police attempted to stop the vehicle, but he refused. Haeger then proceeded to drive towards troopers who were outside of their vehicles, causing them to have to jump out of the way. Driving erratically at a high rate of speed, he continued to flee, leading troopers on a chase that spanned from York Road through Padonia and Cranbrook Road. He was driving down the median lane on York Road when he hit another car at Padonia Road, causing disabling damage to the car. During the pursuit, the stolen Ford F550 dump truck crossed a double yellow line again and collided with another car, an oncoming Nissan at Rossbrooke Circle. Haeger then bailed out of the car and ran away, where he was captured by troopers.Officials say Haeger was taken to Sinai Hospitals for minor injuries where he gave officers a fake name, but a fingerprint check identified the man as Haeger. Companies can stop collecting employees’ payroll taxes starting Tuesday, September 1, after an executive order in early August gave workers a tax holiday.The deferral of payroll taxes applies to employees making less than 4,000 a year. Employees are taxed 6.2 percent that goes toward the Social Security Trust Fund and another 1.45 percent for Medicare.It’s a deferral because the payroll taxes are still due to the IRS by April 30, 2021, which they made clear in new guidance released last week with the US Treasury Department.What this means to employees: It depends on your employer. Starting September 1, employers can stop withholding taxes, but many business leaders have said they will not since the taxes will eventually be due. The decision is up to each company and is not required.If a company stops withholding payroll taxes, employees will have more money in their paychecks through the end of the year. Then on January 1, companies will need to withhold more from paychecks to collect all that is owed in April 2021.For employees making ,000 a year, the elimination of Social Security taxes would result in an extra per paycheck every two weeks. Assuming the employee has eight paychecks left in 2020, that would result in 2 in taxes deferred in 2020, which would be repaid in 2021. For employees making ,000 per year, those figures would be doubled.If an employee leaves their job before all of the appropriate taxes are collected, the guidance only states that companies can "make arrangements to otherwise collect the total applicable taxes from the employee."President Trump has stated he would “terminate” the tax if he was elected in November. Now, 14 years later, she could have a shot at getting out of prison.  Brown was convicted of murder after she shot and killed 43-year old realtor Johnny Allen in 2004. Her lawyers said she was a victim of sex trafficking.Now 30, Brown has a clemency hearing at 10 a.m. local time Wednesday. A state parole board will listen to her case and make a recommendation about whether to grant her clemency. The story sparked national outrage last year after several celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Rihanna, posted Brown's story on Twitter and Instagram. Her attorneys said Brown had been forced into prostitution and that had Allen paid her for sex. 784

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. — A woman was attacked by an alligator on Wednesday while she was swimming in a lake in Citrus County, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.The FWC says 24-year-old Felicitie Marie Gillette was swimming in Lake Hernando around 1 a.m. when an alligator grabbed her by the left arm and began to drag her underwater. She was reportedly able to fight off the alligator and call 911 for help. Gillette was taken to Ocala Regional Hospital for treatment of her injuries. According to the FWC, she was treated and released. She sustained non-life threatening injuries.The alligator is believed to 5 to 6-feet long.The FWC and the Citrus County Sheriff's Office are working to catch the alligator. A trapper has also been called to the scene.The public beach access to Lake Hernando is closed while a wildlife trapper searches for the alligator.  923
