SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego County Credit Union announced Thursday it will join with partners to collect school supplies for students experiencing homelessness.Teaming up with the San Diego County Office of Education and iHeartMedia radio stations, the annual "Stuff the Bus" school supplies campaign supports Live Well San Diego. The San Diego County Board of Supervisors launched the program in 2010 with the goal of "achieving healthy, safe and thriving communities across the region by partnering with community and city leaders, schools, businesses, nonprofit organizations and residents.""Families and youth experiencing homelessness need resources and assistance more than ever during this uncertain time," said Susie Terry, a coordinator of youth homeless services at the office of education. "This drive will allow us to lighten the load for these families in one small way. Over the past few years, we have heard from our local schools how much it means to the families to receive these supplies."Homelessness for school-age children can mean living in a shelter, sharing a residence with multiple families, living in a car or trailer in San Diego County or sharing a room in an apartment with relatives. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego Convention Center announced its planned road closure windows Wednesday for Comic-Con 2019, scheduled for July 17- 21.Harbor Drive will be closed to all traffic between First Avenue and Park Boulevard from 3-10 p.m. July 17, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 18-20 and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 21. The closure will affect all non-foot traffic, according to the convention center, including cars, bikes, skateboards and dockless bikes and scooters.Comic-Con attendees will also need a valid convention badge to access the convention center, its front drive and adjacent terraces and sidewalks. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - SDCCU Stadium in Mission Valley was added to the 30th annual list of the top 10 endangered landmarks and cultural landscapes in San Diego released Tuesday by the Save Our Heritage Organisation.SOHO called the facility -- known until recently as Qualcomm Stadium -- "one of the few mid-century designed, multi-purpose stadiums" to remain standing in the United States."Innovative design features include the pre-cast concrete, pre-wired light towers and spiral concrete pedestrian ramps," according to SOHO. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego Humane Society announced Wednesday that it will offer refunds to San Diego residents who overpaid for certain services between July 2018 and last week. Humane Society officials recently determined that some residents paid fees that were higher than the amounts the city of San Diego adopted on July 1, 2018, for local animal services. The organization plans to contact and offer refunds to residents affected by the overcharging that occurred between July 1 last year and Nov. 19 of this year. The organization also offered discounted services to residents via promotions intended to increase animal adoptions and make it easier to adopt a pet. Residents who paid for animal services at discounted prices will not be contacted, according to the Humane Society. 800
