(KGTV) - A Dulzura man is describing his harrowing escape, after he woke up to his apartment on fire.At Barrett Lake Winery Monday morning, flames tore through a converted barn housing the apartment of vineyard foreman Patrick Rowan. Around 5:30 a.m., Rowan woke to a loud noise and opened a door which opens into the barn's interior."So bright, about 20 feet away. Looked like the sun parked in the room next to me," said Rowan.He saw flames everywhere and rushed into a second apartment unit to rescue two barn cats, but they kept running off."When I looked back, the door -- ceiling part -- was falling. Everything was on fire, except to the left, so I ran through there," said Rowan.He ran back his own apartment to get his pets: two Siamese kittens named Tom and Jerry. For minutes, he tried to coax them to come out from under the bed, but they didn't. He then noticed that his only exit, the kitchen area, was on fire."The roof, ceiling, and door are all wood, and all on fire. Started falling, so I had to get out of there. I ran through the fire, but didn't get burned," said Rowan.As he escaped, he didn't feel fear, only guilt."I felt like a piece of **** because I couldn't save my animals. They were my homies. They were the only things that mattered," said Rowan.One kitten died in the fire. The other is missing. Rowan's apartment was a total loss, and he didn't have renters insurance.He'll be homeless for the holidays, but he's still planning on buying gifts for family and friends."I'm not letting it ruin anything. I'm getting people gifts. People are yelling at me about it ... I don’t have anything anyways. The few hundred dollars I want to spend don't matter," said Rowan.Fire investigators told the property owners the fire was suspicious and the investigation is ongoing. EL CAJON, Calif (KGTV) -- A 26-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing a fellow Ramona resident during a fight at a gas station in their East County hometown pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a murder charge and was ordered held on million bail.    Jarrett Austin Wishnick is suspected of mortally wounding Steven Faught, 59, shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday near a set of fuel pumps in front of Stage Stop Liquors at 578 Main St.    Deputies responding to a report of an assault at the business found Faught bleeding profusely from a wound to his neck, sheriff's Lt. Greg Rylaarsdam said.    Paramedics airlifted the victim to a trauma center, where he was pronounced dead. Wishnick -- who remained at the scene of the deadly fight -- was treated for a hand injury before being booked into jail.    It was unclear what prompted the dispute between the men, both of whom had parked their vehicles in front of the gasoline pumps outside the store.    Faught's older brother, Jerry, flew to San Diego from Portland after the incident. He told 10News that his brother had a warm personality.  "Even though he had  very little, he'd give you the clothes off his back."    Wishnick will be back in court Nov. 20 for a bail review and on Jan. 16 for a readiness conference. A Feb. 1 preliminary hearing date was also scheduled.Wishnick faces 26 years to life in prison if convicted of murder and the use of a knife. 1490

Dimitrios Pagourtzis, identified as the Texas high school shooter, is being held on charges of capital murder and aggravated assault of a public servant, authorities said Friday night.Pagourtzis made a brief initial appearance in court Friday night, standing with his wrists bound, answering questions "Yes, sir" and "No, sir" and looking down at the floor. He did not enter a plea and bond was denied. Disney has narrowed down the opening dates for their Stars Wars expansions that are being built at both Disneyland and Disney World.The company announced on their Disney Parks blog that Star Wars Galaxy's Edge will open at Disneyland in summer of 2019. The expansion will open at Disney World in late fall 2019.The exact dates for the opening of both parks will be announced at a later date. They come just a few months before the yet to be named Star Wars Episode 9 is due in theaters on December 20, 2019.At Disneyland the massive expansion is being built north of Frontierland. At Disney World is being built at Disney's Hollywood Studios.The Disney World expansion is also being accompanied by a Star Wars themed hotel. During the second national lockdown in the United Kingdom, the country’s coronavirus cases dropped by about 30 percent, according to a new study.The report, from the Real-time Assessment of Community Transmission (REACT) program in the UK, looked at swab tests on more than 105,000 people between November 13 and 24.Researchers found about .96 percent of the sample tested positive for coronavirus. This compares to about 1.32 percent positive swab tests of a similar sample in a November 2 report.“Three weeks into the second national lockdown in England there has been a ~30% proportionate reduction in prevalence overall,” the REACT report concluded. However, “average absolute prevalence remains high at ~1%.
