SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Beautiful sunsets may be considered a common occurrence in San Diego but that doesn't make them any less special. While pretty much any spot in San Diego can be considered "the best place to see sunsets," there are some areas that capture the scene better. And yes, many of them are at the beach.RELATED: San Diego's?most picturesque spotsBut that's not to say there aren't great places elsewhere! So if you're ready to grab your camera or just observe with your eyes, here's where to enjoy a breath-taking sunset around the county:Sunset CliffsIt's in the name. Sunset Cliffs gives photographers and anyone peering out to sea nearly 180-degrees of sky meeting water to gaze at. And during a sunset, that can create some amazing viewings as colors are reflected off the waves.Balboa ParkAs San Diego's crown jewel, Balboa Park lends itself to beautiful scenes museums and landscaping with the city in the background. Drop in a sunset and those scenes seem to transform once your eyes hit the horizon.Lake CuyamacaThe Lake Cuyamaca area brings San Diego's routinely dry, East County landscape together with the calmness of the lake. Sunsets are reflected beautifully off the lake, while the dry brush and mountains on the horizon can split through, creating some stunning imagery.Temecula wine countryUp north, San Diego County's wine region creates a mesmerizing foreground to sunsets. Between the vines curling up and over one another, rays of sunlight break through.Oceanside HarborThere nothing quite like a shot of the sun peering over masts and sails from boats bundled together in a harbor. Though there may not be a lot of reflection of the water, there's plenty to stand in awe and observe. 1733

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — City officials hope to get the construction process for a proposed downtown park, aimed at being an anchor for San Diego's East Village, off the ground this summer. The proposed 4.1-acre, million East Village Green will sit between F and G Streets stretching from 13th St. to 15th St. The massive stretch of green space in the heart of downtown San Diego will feature an 11,000-square-foot multi-use lawn, plaza and fountain areas, children's garden, 14,200-square-foot community center, dog parks, and room for food facilities, according to development plans.RELATED: Officials to break ground on county's first bike skills park in South BayThe green would also include an underground parking structure for 200 vehicles. "The City will be maintaining and programming East Village Green, and Civic [San Diego] hopes to start the bid solicitation process in late summer," according to Kimberly Moore with Civic San Diego. Plans show an additional multi-use lawn, children's garden, and casual park space in the park's future. Part of the construction process will also involve restoring nearby historic homes, which sit at the corner of F and 15th Streets. RELATED: New park includes San Diego's first public parkour spaceThe city hopes to begin construction by early 2021. Renderings and phase development plans can be seen here.Officials say the park has the ability to serve as a way to give East Village's residents an "engaging and interactive" place for community events and daily use. 1520

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — As temperatures hit highs across the county's eastern portion, officials are taking annual precautions to close several popular hiking areas.Six county parks will be closed throughout August, including El Capitan Preserve near Lakeside, Hellhole Canyon Preserve in Valley Center, Mt. Gower Preserve near Ramona, Wilderness Gardens in Pala, Agua Caliente Regional Park in Anza Borrego, and Vallecito County Park near Julian.Agua Caliente Regional Park and Vallecito County Park are closed all summer until Labor Day weekend. The closure also gives park staff the chance to perform maintenance and other upgrades and restoration projects. For hiking and park areas that remain open all summer, county Parks and Recreation officials encourage visitors to always hike with others, leave pets at home on difficult hikes, take plenty of water and food, and dress appropriately for the activity. 913

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Catholic Charities San Diego is holding a workshop Saturday for young Dreamers affected by the DACA program uncertainty.Katia Ortiz is one of them. She said her parents brought her to the U.S. from Mexico when she was three. She said she has no recollection of where she was born.“It was really tough,” Ortiz said about feeling left out. She said she could not travel on class trips, she could not get a driver’s license and she could not apply for a college scholarship. She said DACA opened a lot of doors for her. “I got a job, and I got my license,” she explained. She also said she started attending college. Earlier this month, President Trump called to cut the program in March."It’s like you have everything and then it’s gone," Ortiz added.  "It’s tough thinking about, but I think what we all have to do is sit down and reflect."Frankly, at this time, I really don’t know what I would do."Catholic Charities San Diego helped about 700 people obtain DACA status, the group said. They said U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will continue processing pending initial application accepted as of Sept. 5, 2017 and pending renewal applications already filed. They went on to say USCIS will continue accepting renewal applications until Oct. 5, 2017 from applicants whose DACA expires between Sept. 5, 2017 and March 5, 2018. As it stands, all applications after Oct. 5, 2017 will be rejected. The group is holding free, bilingual information sessions, followed by one-on-one assessments. Those who qualify will be given an appointment to work with an accredited Catholic Charities staff member to complete their renewal application the next day.Scholarships are also available to cover the 5 application fee.Saturday's workshop was at St. Jude's Shrine of the West, 3785 Boston Ave.The next sessions will be:Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, 405 Ballard St., El Cajon.Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Mission San Luis Rey, 4050 Mission Ave., OceansideThursday, Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, 4177 Marlborough Ave., San Diego 2159
