Facebook has identified the cause of outages that left some users in the United States unable to post photos or answer messages on Facebook or Instagram during part of Thanksgiving holiday Thursday.In a statement Thursday afternoon, a Facebook spokesperson told CNN Business that "an issue in one of our central software systems caused many people to have trouble accessing Facebook's family of apps. We quickly investigated, started restoring access, and we're now monitoring for full recovery. Detroit police are investigating the shooting death of a University of Michigan – Dearborn student athlete.Kabria Arnold, 20, who played softball for the university, was killed Sunday. Dash camera video captured what state police in Illinois are calling a "miracle on the ice."An out of control truck narrowly missed two troopers and a woman as they changed her tire along an icy road near Wayne City, Illinois on November 12.The troopers pulled the woman out of the way into a ditch just in time and the truck passed over her. She was treated for minor injuries. China has set a date for a new round of talks with the United States aimed at ending a trade war that is spooking global markets and hurting businesses.China's Commerce Ministry said Friday that US deputy trade representative Jeffrey Gerrish would hold negotiations with Chinese officials on January 7-8 in Beijing. The White House is yet to confirm the talks.The office of the United States Trade Representative also released a statement Friday announcing the delegation that would be representing the US.In addition to Gerrish, the official delegation will also include David Malpass, the Treasury Department's undersecretary for international affairs.
