SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Mayor Kevin Faulconer detailed his plan to bolster San Diego's infrastructure in a proposed budget Tuesday.The plan calls for a total of about 3 million in investments into the city's streets, parks, and water system — among other improvements. "These innovators and pioneers have emerged everywhere that waves break. In this regard, San Diego has been particularly blessed," organizers write. "Our 70 miles of coastline have produced some of the most innovative shapers and wave stylists in the sport. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- It's survival of the fittest once again for gyms and fitness centers across the county as San Diego braces for stricter pandemic-related restrictions that go into effect Saturday.One gym preparing for the big shift is major chain 24 Hour Fitness. While members can't choose from their dozens of locations to workout, seven county locations will be open and offering outdoor equipment to members."We're committed to staying outdoors, staying safe, and the well-being of our members is the priority," said 24 Hour Fitness district manager John Amato.Amato told ABC 10News that member visits will be reservation based with 90-minute windows, minimized to 57 guests at a time.While many prepared for what's to come, others like gym owner Tom Green of Green Speed Training in Eastlake did the opposite. Karina Sanchez searches for the right words. "We can't even believe how great business has been, we're so so thankful for it."Sanchez and her husband are owners of Waterhorse Charters in Mission Bay. Opening just last year, they offer scuba diving tours, party cruises, fishing and whale watching excursions.When the pandemic hit, they were forced to temporarily shutdown by state mandate. But once given the green light to reopen, Sanchez says business has been booming, with people want to get out and do it safely."I feel like people get a little more comfortable going out in the water," says Sanchez, "Something that's outdoors; than having, for instance, a house party or just going to bars or something like that."Sanchez connects with many of her customers through the site GetMyBoat.Com, which is kind of like Airbnb for boats."There's some data that suggests the average boat is only used 8 to 10% of the year," says Val Streif, who represents GetMyBoat.com from their headquarters in Minneapolis.
