CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Authorities have identified the law enforcement officers involved in a deadly South Bay shooting in early October.Authorities say Sgt. John Holm, and officers Pakko Mendez, Javier Mendoza, and Lauren Chi with the California Highway Patrol were all involved.Sgt. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A former employee of the Sweetwater Union High School District pleaded guilty Wednesday to an embezzlement charge for siphoning more than ,000 from the district.Danya Margarita Williams, 42 of Chula Vista, is scheduled to be sentenced June 13 in a Chula Vista courtroom. Another embezzlement count, as well as a grand theft count, are expected to be dismissed as part of the plea deal.As part of her job, Williams was responsible for processing money orders received for fingerprint background investigations at the district, which are required during employment screenings, according to Chula Vista police Capt. Phil Collum.Each background investigation costs between to per applicant, and the applicants pay the fee using money orders, he said.``Instead of processing the money in accordance with district requirements, Williams deposited the money into her personal bank account,'' Collum said.District officials discovered the embezzlement -- which occurred between June 2016 and December 2017 -- and reported it to police, he said. (KGTV) — Firefighters put out a 28 acre brush fire that ignited near Lower Otay Lake.Cal Fire confirmed on Sunday that the fire is 100 percent contained and all resources have been taken off the incident.The vegetation fire, dubbed the Otay Fire, was reported by Cal Fire at about 10 a.m. on Saturday near the east side of the lake.Both air and ground resources were used to battle back the flames, according to Cal Fire.No structures were threatened by the fire. 491

CHULA VISTA (CNS) - At least one man was injured in a traffic collision today on southbound Interstate 805 near East Palomar Street in Chula Vista, the California Highway Patrol said.At 11:10 a.m., a pickup truck flipped onto its side in a crash with a larger truck hauling boxes, according to a CHP incident log. The man was out of his pickup truck bleeding from a head wound.The larger truck continued southbound on I-805 after the crash, the CHP reported. The crash blocked two right lanes and traffic in the area was backed up, CHP officers on the scene said.No further information was immediately available. 620

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A woman narrowly avoided being hit by a falling tree branch on a busy Chula Vista street Wednesday. A large branch fell from the eucalyptus tree along Telegraph Canyon Road about 3 p.m., crashing through the passenger side window of a woman’s car. Had a passenger been in the seat, the person would have been impaled, crews on the scene estimated. The woman pulled into the bike lane to assess the damage. She was able to walk independently but paramedics took her to the hospital for an assessment. No other cars were damaged, officials said. A neighbor told 10News they have seen other branches fall from the same tree. No one has been injured by the other incidents. 706
