(AP) — A convicted felon has been charged with abducting two Christian college students and forcing them to perform sex acts on each other at gunpoint after they violated curfew and were locked out of their southwest Missouri campus.Robert Hyslop, 49, of Branson, Missouri, is jailed without bond on charges of kidnapping, sexual abuse and sodomy, the Springfield News-Leader reported. No attorney is listed for Hyslop in online court records. He could face life in prison if convicted.College of the Ozarks, in the small town of Point Lookout, has a 1 a.m. curfew. Gates to the front entrance, known as the Gates of Opportunity, remain locked until 5 a.m.Charging documents say the two students, a male and a female, arrived back at campus 10 minutes too late in the early hours of Oct. 29, so they went to a nearby commuter lot to sleep.Hyslop, who was on probation for a 2017 drug conviction, told Taney County investigator Dan Luttrell that he had been high on methamphetamine for three days when he spotted the sleeping students around 3 a.m., court records say. Hyslop allegedly used a hammer to smash the passenger window, showed a gun, and got inside the car.Luttrell said Hyslop admitted forcing the male student to drive to a highway lookout. Once there, he allegedly forced the students to perform sex acts on each other, and forced the woman to touch him sexually.Hyslop then told the students to drive him back to his car, Luttrell wrote. The students contacted police and gave a detailed description of their attacker and his vehicle. He was arrested several days later. Charges were filed Thursday.College of the Ozarks spokeswoman Valorie Coleman said the college received a report about the incident on Oct. 29 and issued a campus safety alert on Oct. 30. She declined further comment about the alleged crime.Sue Head, the college's vice president for cultural affairs and dean of character education, said students can call a 24-hour security number to unlock the gate."We do have the phone number posted clearly at the front gate," Head said.Coleman and Head said there are legitimate reasons for students to break curfew, including working off-campus jobs. But, she said, "If they are habitually late, they are going to have to have a conversation with the dean of students."Coleman said the college has offered the students confidential counseling."We are sick over this incident for the students. We are trying to protect their privacy," Coleman said. "The fact that all the details have been in the media, I just hate that for them."A campus for another school, Ozarks Technical Community College, also is near the commuter lot. (KGTV) - A catamaran stuck in a Point Loma cave for nearly a week was pulverized by surf, according to the salvage crew.New photos and videos from Tow Boat US San Diego show unrecognizable pieces of fiberglass, and one hunk with the engine intact."There's no section left of the boat that looks like a boat at this point," Captain Tony Olson, with Tow Boat US San Diego, said.Last Friday morning two men on a fishing trip were rescued from a catamaran stuck inside a cave near the Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant. The men fell asleep while the boat was set to autopilot.The surf was so rough since the crash, salvage crews couldn't re-enter the cave until Thursday afternoon. "It just completely pounds that thing, bouncing it off the walls like a pinball... trying to get behind it, next to it, in front of it, is a bad place to be," Olson said.The divers took pictures and were prepared to pump out fuel when they realized there was no fuel to be found, "there are no fuel tanks left to be found, they're gone. So in the process of the boat coming apart they have floated away, it did not smell like fuel inside the cave at all," he said.Three pieces of the boat came back with the crew, two hunks of fiberglass, "part of a hatch possibly," Olson said, and a steering wheel.Friday morning the crew will devise a plan to pick up the rest. "Float larger sections out possibly drag them off and hoist them up to a boat we'll have waiting out there," Olson said.The divers possibly swimming out the smaller debris. PALA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The third woman who died in a Saturday morning bus crash in Pala Mesa has been identified as 23-year-old Cinthya Karely Rodriguez Banda. The San Diego County Medical Examiner says Banda died after being ejected from the bus. She was from Mexico. Monday, the two other women who died in the crash were identified. Maria De La Luz Diaz, 67 of Riverside, and Julia Perez Cornejo, 73 of Pasadena, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to information from the California Highway Patrol and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.RELATED: Charter bus had a history of maintenance violationsThe women were among 21 passengers in a charter bus traveling from El Monte to Tijuana that crashed on rain-slicked southbound 15 near State Route 76 around 10:25 a.m. Saturday. CHP said Monday night that the boy was in stable condition and is expected to recover. Police in Bismarck, North Dakota, want to put AR-15 rifles in some schools so school resource officers can respond more quickly in the event of an active shooter.Police asked for almost ,000 in their 2019 budget request to buy the rifles, heavy body armor and bleeding control kits for the city's nine high schools and middle schools, Bismarck Police Chief Dave Draovitch told CNN.The money will also be used to buy a safe at each school to keep the equipment away from students, teachers and staff."The SROs (school resource officers) will be the only ones who have access to this equipment," he said.The cost would be split with the school system."Hopefully we never find ourselves in a situation of an active shooter. But if we do, we really want to make sure that our SRO's are equipped with the tools that they need to do their job effectively," Bismarck Public Schools safety coordinator Becky LaBella told CNN affiliate KFYR.Draovitch said Bismarck school resource officers are police officers and are trained to respond immediately to stop an active shooting."Whatever they have to do to stop that threat, that's what we expect our officers to do," Draovitch said.They keep AR-15s and the other emergency equipment in their vehicles, but that's not as useful if there's an active shooting situation inside the building."If something happens they're not going to have time to go running out to their cars," Draovitch said. PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Whether you're a cat person or a dog person, this story is sure to warm your heart. It has a sad start, but a heartwarming end.The Sunshine Dog Rescue based out of Phoenix rescued a dog they have named "Georgia", an Australian Shephard Mix, found living at a gas station near the US-Mexico border, by Rocky Point.They quickly learned Georgia was pregnant. Sadly, none of Georgia's puppies survived. They were all born prematurely. Anita Osa, founder of Sunshine Dog Rescue, says Georgia was heartbroken after losing all of her babies."I've never had a mom dog lose a whole litter before. The best way I could describe it was she was frantic. It was so sad, she was looking for those babies. She tore up the toddler mattress we had her on, trying to find her babies," said Osa.Hoping to start Georgia down the path of healing, Osa put out a call for help on Facebook, looking for any animals that needed a lactating mother dog. What she ended up with was a trio of newly orphaned kittens, who also needed a mother.Osa said she initially wondered if a dog would accept kittens as her babies, but she was surprised to see the instant bond they formed."I introduced them to her gently. I first bought one out and let her sniff it, and she seemed to accept it, so I brought the others out. It's amazing to see how she instantly calmed down," said Osa."I think for the kittens, they have no idea that Georgia is a dog," she added.Georgia is even allowing her new kitten kids to nurse on her, although her milk production is low."They do nurse on her. She cleans them and everything but the bond is strong. It's really something to see, she protects those kittens just as if they were her babies," said Osa. 1726
