SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Several City Heights homes were evacuated Tuesday afternoon after authorities responding to a medical call found possible military ordnance. The incident began after San Diego Police were called to the scene to investigate a death at 50th and Wightman Streets around 2 p.m. Shortly after police arrived, San Diego Fire Rescue says bomb units responded to the area after what is believed to be a military ordnance was discovered. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego security experts advise vigilance in the wake of the U.S. attack on Iran General Qassem Suleimani.Former Marine Pilot Ed Rush says Iran's options are limited when it comes to retaliation - but its two options appear to be a cyber attack or a terrorist attack. "We've protected ourselves pretty well at home here from terror," Rush said, noting he expects any attack to be abroad on a U.S. interest or embassy. San Diego Police say they have received no credible threat and have not increased patrols. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego State University canceled spring break 2021 on Tuesday night, citing concerns of rising COVID-19 cases. Instead of the traditional nine day break, students will get four "rest and recovery days" scattered throughout the semester. The days will create multiple long weekends for students and faculty. The decision was made during a University Senate meeting. The vote was 44 to 28. The school senate is made up of faculty, staff and student representatives. Within hours of the decision, an online petition gained thousands of signatures from students asking for the school to bring back spring break. In a lengthy email sent to the entire campus, school officials explained the decision was made in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19,citing health and safety as the schools top priority. Officials say the rest and recovery days are for no instruction, assignments, deadlines or exams.
