Hunter used campaign funds for personal expenses “to satisfy his desire for intimacy,” U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California David Leshner alleged in an evidence motion filed Monday. The court document details how and when Hunter spent thousands of dollars on relationships with five women who worked as congressional staffers or lobbyists, prosecutors said. “Carrying out all these affairs did not come cheap,” the U.S. Attorney’s office said. A woman, identified as Individual 14 [I-14] in the motion, started a relationship with Hunter in April 2009, four months after he became the Representative for the 50th District of California, according to the motion. In August 2012, about five months after his alleged relationship with I-14 ended, documents indicate Hunter began a relationship with a congressional staffer, identified in court filings as I-15. (KGTV) - The U.S. Navy said it has confirmed the death of the pilot in the crash of a fighter jet in the California desert. The single-seat F/A-18E Super Hornet crashed Wednesday morning in a canyon in Death Valley National Park where military aircraft conduct low-level training in an area known as Star Wars Canyon. Seven French tourists on the ground were treated for minor cuts and burns they suffered when they were hit by shrapnel. The Navy says the cause of the crash remains under investigation. The aircraft belonged to Strike Fighter Squadron VFA-151 based at Naval Air Station Lemoore in California's Central Valley. The Navy said in a statement Thursday that the pilot's identity will be withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin in accordance with Defense Department policy. 811

(KGTV) — National Geographic and Fox Networks will investigate astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson over allegations of sexual misconduct, according to reports.Accounts by two women were published Thursday, claiming Tyson misbehaved in a sexually inappropriate manner with them, according to Patheos.com. The women, a Bucknell University professor and former assistant to Tyson according to the accounts, both claimed the astrophysicist made inappropriate sexual advances toward them.Tyson has not commented on the allegations against him, according to the Associated Press. In a statement to the AP, the producers of the television show "Cosmo" said: "The credo at the heart of 'Cosmos' is to follow the evidence wherever it leads. The producers of 'Cosmos' can do no less in this situation."Tyson was the host of "Cosmos" on Fox in 2014 and a new edition of the series was set to air on National Geographic next year sometime. (KGTV) -- The California Department of Education on Monday released guidance for the safe reopening of all state schools.State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond and other CDE leaders unveiled a guidance document that will serve as a road map of recommendations for schools as they work with local public health officials on steps to reopen.All schools in the state closed in March due to stay-at-home orders protecting against the spread of COVID-19. Reopening dates have not yet been set.The document addresses topics such as face coverings, physical distancing, symptom screenings and distance learning.Some of the suggestions include:Students should use cloth face coverings, especially in circumstances when physical distancing cannot be maintained. Face coverings should be worn while waiting to enter the school campus; while on school grounds (except when eating or drinking); while leaving school; while on a school bus.In classrooms, desks are to be a minimum of 6 feet apart and desks should be arranged in a way that minimizes face-to-face contact.All staff should wear face coverings.
