BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Premier Wen Jiabao on Friday visited Xiamen, a southeastern port city which faces Taiwan across the sea, urging cooperation for a win-win result for the mainland and Taiwan.     With more than 3,300 Taiwan-invested companies, Xiamen, in Fujian Province, is a frontier platform for cross-Straits exchanges.     While touring Chenhong Technology Company, Wen was pleased to learn the Taiwan-invested high-tech company registered a strong growth last year despite the global financial crisis. MOSCOW, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Wu Bangguo, China's top legislator, met with Russian Duma Chairman Boris Gryzlov on Thursday. Both leaders stressed the importance of parliamentary cooperation and the unique role it serves bilateral relations.     Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress(NPC), hailed the bilateral parliamentary cooperation at various levels in recent years. Since arriving in Moscow on Wednesday, the legislator has met with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev and Sergei Mironov, chairman of the upper chamber of the Russian Parliament, known as the Federation Council.

BEIJING, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang met with U.S. special envoy for climate change Todd Stern on Monday, calling for more dialogues and substantial cooperation with the United States on climate change.     "China has noticed the change of the U.S. government on climate change as well as the positive measures it has taken," Li told Stern during their meeting in the Great Hall of the People.     To strengthen dialogue and cooperation between the two countries helps the growth of China-U.S. ties and benefits the international cooperation to fight against climate change, the vice premier said. BEICHUAN, Sichuan, May 10 (Xinhua) -- The quake-devastated Beichuan county seat in southwest China's Sichuan Province reopened Sunday to residents to mourn the dead ahead of the first anniversary of the disaster.     Some 21,000 people, or two-thirds of the county seat's population, were dead or missing in the 8.0-magnitude earthquake on May 12 last year, making the county the worst hit in the quake.     The county will be open for four days till Wednesday.     Mourners brought flowers, incense and candles and set off firecrackers in the ruins of former bus stations, county government buildings and homes. The police distributed bottled water to the crowd for free.
