WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" was supposed to open this weekend before the coronavirus pandemic forced movie theaters to shut down and major studios to shuffle the summer movie lineup.Instead, its predecessor is the No. 1 movie in the nation -- just as it was 36 summers ago.The 1984 classic was the top draw at the box office during the three-day Fourth of July weekend."Ghostbusters," which first opened in June 1984, grossed 0,000 during the holiday weekend and 6,000 since the start of July.That number tops the milestone set for the longest gap between No. 1-ranked weekends for a movie, set last month by "Jurassic Park."The resurgence of many classic movies is attributable to the popularity of drive-in theaters during the pandemic. Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, home to the NFL's Miami Dolphins, has taken advantage of the new fad, transforming into a drive-in theater and showing several classic movies like "Jaws," "Back to the Future" and "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial."Prior to last weekend, "Ghostbusters" hadn't led box-office sales since September 1984.The comedy blockbuster starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Sigourney Weaver had a seven-week run as the top movie at the box office (Prince's "Purple Rain" overtook "Ghostbusters" on the final weekend of July) and spent another two weekends at No. 1 in 1984. We're all familiar by now with the student walkouts in solidarity against gun violence. It's one way they've united in one voice to try to make a difference.  But some students are using art, and billboards, to send a message of their own.           For Yoki Ogbai, the overalls she's painting are more than a school project"Our colors are red and white," Ogbai said. "So a lot of wings a lot of bows glitter all types of crazy.The overalls are her latest work of art."Art for me is like a big sense of release," Ogbai said.Born in East Africa, she used art as expression when she moved to the U.S and a way for people to see her for who she is."A lot of times people don't really try to understand and don't really try to get to know a person before creating their onw ways," Ogbai said.  "Their own idea of who you are."So when she heard about a contest called the "Healing As One" campaign, she figured it would be an opportunity to inspire thousands to take a look at things in a different way."Cause he's kind of taking a picture and was like through the lens," Ogbai said.That idea grew into a billboard on a busy intersection that reads, "See Me, I Am Denver.""To be seen is to be acknowledged for everything you are and not for what you're expected to be," Ogbai says.Ogbai's billboard is just one of several in the Healing As One initiative. The topics are timely. One reads education not deportation. And others, encourage people to have courage and hope.Albany Reynolds designed the hope billboard."For me it's amazing because I've always been someone who wanted to speak out about issues like that," Reynolds said.  "And just bring attention to that."She placed the word over a picture she took of her classmate Kelly."It's giving us leeway to have artistic freedom and to put our ideas out there," Reynolds said. "And to say I want to represent hope and to have that on an actual billboard it's a good opportunity."In a time with young people across the country speaking out about the issues important to them, this group believes doing that through art can be just as powerful."If you look at any big historical changes throughout history art has been a very big part of that," Reynolds said."Even though I am just another person using my voice and what I know what I can do I really am able to make some sort of impact in someone’s life," Ogbai said.Inspiring change through billboards, advertising messages of a different kind. 2526

WAUKEGAN, Ill. — Kyle Rittenhouse, accused of killing two protesters days after Jacob Blake was shot by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, will not face charges in his home state of Illinois, prosecutors said Tuesday.An investigation revealed the gun used in the Kenosha shooting was purchased, stored and used in Wisconsin, the Lake County (Illinois) State’s Attorney’s Office said. There is no evidence the gun was ever physically possessed by 17-year-old Rittenhouse in Illinois, the office said.Rittenhouse, who is from Antioch, Illinois, remains held in a juvenile detention center in Lake County without bond due to pending criminal charges in Kenosha. Rittenhouse is due back in Lake County court on Oct. 30 for an extradition hearing.His arrest has become a rallying point for some on the right, with a legal defense fund that has attracted millions of dollars in donations. WASHINGTON, D.C. — A man was shot after attempting to break into the WTTG television station, employees there tweeted Monday afternoon.A security guard allegedly fired the shot at the suspect, according to a report by the station.The intruder survived and the incident is under investigation. There is no report on why the attempted break-in occurred or how the man may be connected to the station.WTTG-TV reported that the suspect was identified as George Odemns of Northwest D.C. He has previously sent emails to employees of the station, WTTG said. WTTG said that Odemns was shot after forcing his way through the glass doors, which was captured on video from inside and outside of the entrance to the lobby area.  765
