Four suspects that were allegedly involved in the murder of Baltimore County Police Officer Amy Caprio have been identified and charged as adults.Eugene Genius IV, 17, Darrell Ward, 15, Derrick Matthews, 16, and Dawnta Harris, 16, are all being charged with first-degree murder after Caprio, was run over by a car and killed on Monday. Genius, Ward, and Matthews are also facing first-degree burglary charges as well. On Monday, the teenagers were allegedly breaking into homes in the Perry Hall area when Caprio responded. Genius, Ward, and Matthews were reportedly inside a home when Caprio arrived.Harris was waiting in a Jeep Wrangler, and when Officer Caprio told him to get out of the car he allegedly ran her over and then drove away. After a multi-day manhunt, al four teenagers are in police custody.According to charging documents, Genius was arrested a day after the murder occurred and objected to his murder charges, saying that he was in the house when the murder happened. He added that he only knew two of the others involved, not all three. They all have a trial date of June 1. ????Harris has been charged with a series of carjackings, including stealing the vehicle that police say was used to kill officer Caprio. Police say Harris was under house arrest and wearing an ankle monitor at the time.Speaking at the District Court for Baltimore on Tuesday, the judge in the case said he wasn't sure any juvenile facility is secure enough to hold Dawnta Harris.Prosecutors said Harris was arrested four times for auto theft since December of last year.“This 16-year-old perhaps shouldn’t have been out (of jail),” Baltimore County Police Chief Terrence Sheridan said.Maryland Secretary of Juvenile Services Sam Abed said the court acted with the Baltimore City State's Attorney and the public defender to let him out on house arrest. “On May 10, there was a detention that the department was not privy a party to where the youth was released back to electronic monitoring,” Abed said.Between then and May 18, Abed said his compliance was poor and they requested that he be brought in.His mother had reached out to the court to let them know she couldn’t find him. “We attempted to contact the youth through his cell phone,” Abed said. “Went to his school and other places that we knew him to frequent to try and locate him. For the first time in recorded history researchers have not observed sea ice formation along the Siberian Coast of the Arctic Sea this late into the year.The region, according to researchers, usually starts generating thick layers of ice in the later part of September and early parts of October.“It was really hard to find a solid chunk of ice to freeze the ship into,” said Colorado State University researcher Jessie Creamean, who has spent the last six years traveling to the Arctic Sea to study the ice. “It was really astounding that it was so hard to find this thick ice that should be there but isn’t anymore.”In February, Creamean spent time aboard the world’s largest icebreaker ship, Mosaic, and said the changes were visible to the naked eye and not just on satellite imagery.“It’s getting warmer so we’re losing sea ice, but because we lose the sea ice it becomes even warmer,” said Mark Serreze, director of the National Snow and Ice Data Center. “It exacerbates the problem of climate change.”Serreze says the loss of sea ice has started a trend where warmer water from the Atlantic Ocean moves into the Arctic Sea and layers itself under the colder water before permeating to the surface, causing the Arctic Sea to warm at a faster rate.It also allows cargo ships to travel a route that has historically been impassable, creating geopolitical incentives for nations to try and control the region.“We’re seeing issues of tensions between the United States and Russia which, of course, is an Arctic nation starting to arise,” said Serreze. “Russia is strongly militarizing the Artic right now so there are many things that are occurring at that level because of the changes we’re seeing so it’s a great example of how climate change and geopolitics are becoming intertwined.” 1797

Former US Senate candidate Roy Moore has filed a countersuit against Leigh Corfman, one of the women who accused him of making unwanted sexual advances.Moore is asking an Alabama state judge to stop all proceedings in Corfman's defamation lawsuit, calling the lawsuit "frivolous and groundless," according to the countersuit filed late Monday in Circuit Court in Montgomery County, Alabama. Corfman sued Moore in January."This is and has been a political attempt to smear the good name and reputation of Judge Roy Moore, and we will not let this injustice continue," Melissa Isaak, one of Moore's attorneys, said in a statement. FREDERICK, Colo. -- A Frederick husband and father is behind bars in the Weld County Jail, booked early Thursday morning for the disappearance of his pregnant wife and two young daughters.According to two law enforcement officials, Christopher Watts, 33, has confessed to killing Shanann?Watts, 34, and their two daughters — 3-year-old Celeste and 4-year-old Bella. Officials believe they know where the bodies are.Watts and her daughters were reported missing out of Frederick on Monday. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued a missing-endangered alert for the three on Tuesday. A day later, the Federal Bureau of Investigation joined in the search.Just after midnight Thursday, an official with the Frederick Police Department said they had made an arrest "in connection to the missing person's case" involving Shanann Watts and her two girls. Officials said they were awaiting charges for the suspect, who will be held at the Weld County Jail for the time being.Police declined to comment further on the investigation. Watts was 15 weeks pregnant. In an interview with Scripps station KMGH in Denver on Tuesday, Chris Watts said his wife’s purse, keys and phone were all left at home before she went missing.
