(Tashi Delek means good luck in Tibetan)Hu's plane landed at Yushu's Batang Airport Sunday morning after an over-three-hour flight from Beijing.The president, who returned to China Saturday from a shortened visit to Latin America, headed for worst-hit Gyegu Town in Yushu immediately after landing.CONCERTED RELIEF EFFORTS CONTINUEChinese rescuers have saved a 68-year-old man who was trapped under earthquake rubble for 100 hours.The old man was rescued at about 11 a.m. Sunday in Gyegu Town, Yushu, and his condition appeared stable, rescuers said. The man was later taken to hospital.Rescuers had saved 17,000 trapped people and a total of 6,870 people had been pulled out from under the rubble of collapsed buildings, among whom 6,110 survived, Miao Chonggang, deputy head of the China Earthquake Administration's quake relief and emergency response department, told a press conference.Miao said currently more than 15,000 rescuers, including over 11,000 from the People's Liberation Army and armed police, 2,800 firefighters and special police forces, and 1,500 earthquake and mine accident rescuers, are still searching for quake survivors in Yushu.

  

BEIJING, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo said here on Wednesday China highly values its relations with Europe, vowing to further promote China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership.Wu, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, made the remarks in his meetings with European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek, and a group of European party leaders who were here for the first-ever China-Europe High-Level Political Party Forum.Wu hailed the progress of China-Europe ties over the years, citing enhanced political trust, fruitful cooperation, close coordination in global and regional affairs and the establishment of an annual summit mechanism and all-round strategic partnership.China attaches great importance to developing ties with Europe, and considers China-Europe relations a priority in China's foreign policies, he told Buzek.Buzek said China plays an increasingly important role at the global stage. The European Union highly values China's position, and he hopes to strengthen dialogues and cooperation between the European Parliament and the NPC to boost all-round relationship, Buzek added.In a meeting with European party leaders, Wu reiterated that the CPC is ready to strengthen friendly exchanges with various parties of Europe to boost bilateral all-round strategic partnership.

  

COPENHAGEN, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Danish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Lene Espersen met here Friday with visiting Vice Chairman of the Chinese National People's Congress Standing Committee Hua Jianmin.Espersen congratulated China on its successful opening of the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai. She said Denmark has fully supported the expo by sending its national treasure Little Mermaid."I hope the Chinese audience will learn more about the Danish culture and the economic and social development of Denmark," Espersen said.The minister praised the Chinese people's hard working and entrepreneurial spirit, and lauded the miracle of China's economic development.Espersen said China and Denmark are important trading partners, not least due to the fact that there are more than 400 Danish enterprises investing in China."Denmark greatly appreciates that China recently sent a trade and investment mission to visit Denmark, and Denmark more than welcomes Chinese corporations to invest in Denmark," Espersen said.Hua, for his part, said bilateral relations have matured over the past 60 years. He said the two sides have sought a common ground on the basis of friendly cooperation.Hua noted that the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership established in 2008 has offered new opportunity for further development of the Sino-Danish relationship.He also mentioned the increased cultural exchanges between China and Denmark, citing the establishment of a Confucius Institute in Denmark.
