(KGTV) — Guitar Center, the county's largest musical instrument retailer, is expected to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after reaching a deal to restructure its debt.According to Bloomberg, the retailer's restructuring plan aims to reduce its debt by 0 million. "With ten consecutive quarters of growth prior to the impact from COVID-19, we have been pleased with our resilient financial performance during these challenging times created by the pandemic," Guitar Center CEO Ron Japinga said in a statement. "As a result of this financial restructuring process, we will be better equipped to execute on and invest in our strategic growth initiatives and we will continue delivering through the strength of our brands, availability of our stores, customer-focused associate relationships, innovative music education programs and our expanding digital solutions."The plan includes 5 million in new investments from funds managed by the company's private equity owner Ares Management, the Carlyle Group, and Brigade Capital Management, Bloomberg reported.Filing for Chapter 11 would allow Guitar Center to keep operating while the company works to turn around its business performance. (KGTV) -- A fire that tore through a Chula Vista playground overnight is being investigated as suspicious, the Chula Vista Fire Department says.The fire was reported just after 4:50 a.m. at the Veterans Park Community Center. Video of the scene shows roaring flames erupting from the playground before a loud explosion is audible. At this time, the department says the fire is under investigation as suspicious. Several other residential and business fires also took place overnight Saturday and into the early morning. The first fire damaged an El Cajon home on the 1700 block of Hacienda Place just before 3:30 a.m. One person was injured due to smoke inhalation. Heartland Fire and Rescue says one man was found in the backyard of the home with minor injuries. Another person suffered smoke inhalation.The blaze is under investigation by the El Cajon Police Department and the Sheriff Department’s Bomb and Arson unit.The second fire burned through the La Tiendita Mexican Market on the 3800 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard around 9 a.m. Saturday. (KGTV) — California Highway Patrol is advising motorists to be prepared for a possible shut down of the Grapevine stretch of Interstate 5 this week.With a major winter storm expected to sweep through Southern California over the Thanksgiving holiday, CHP sent out a warning Tuesday for motorists to stay alert if using I-5 between Santa Clarita and Mettler, Calif."We are expecting snow on the Grapevine starting this Wednesday," CHP wrote. "We always hope to keep it open, however safety is our top priority. If the conditions become unsafe, we will hold traffic until Caltrans HQ makes the roadway safe. Expect a high volume of traffic this holiday week. Expect some delay and give yourself plenty of time to arrive at your destination safely."As an backup, CHP provided a map of alternate routes around the Grapevine through Highway 14 or Highway 101:Rain may hit Santa Clarita as early as Tuesday, with freezing conditions possible Thursday night.
